I hope not, and hope we buy someone. But there were signs last night against Spurs that he could well be gaining confidence. I think what we need in goal atm, is one keeper and not two. Personally I would give Ward a chance, he was immense on loan last season, and not playing him is quite sad (should have re-loaned him to Huddersfield ?!) I heard we're in for the Roma Keeper Allinson, and have to be honest I haven't seen him. I don't know if Obliak is available or interested but he looks like the best of the rest (De Gea, Courtois taking top pick). But in Karius' defense he finally made a good save (Son Min Heung), his distribution has improved (that's not saying much, it was rock bottom) and he seemed to have some small amount of confidence during the game. Was beaten by a penalty from the best striker in the league (let's be honest!) and although some people found him at fault for the Wanyama goal, I have to admit it was just that good a strike that you simply have to take your hat off and say well played. Didn't notice any errors but haven't re-visited the highlights. What do you think?
We will see come the end of the season he had a decent game yesterday and looks more confident at least.
I much prefer Karius over Mignolet. For starters, he can actually kick the ball past the halfway line. He comes of his line better than Mignolet too. He's far from perfect and still looks shaky at times but let's give the lad a proper chance to prove himself before writing him off.
If he keeps on taking out strikers like he did Kane, he will be a dream for whoever Liverpool play against. Come on Muller don't let me down.
I didn't fault him for the Wanyama goal. I don't think he had any other option other than to punch it out, he got a good contact to the punch and got it out of danger, it's just unfortunate that the strike was hit so perfect. If Wanyama hit 25 of those shots from the same place, you can guarantee 24 of them will go absolutely anywhere, Kop, out for a goal kick etc. I think trying to catch the ball at the pace it was coming if he fumbled, there were Spurs players close by that could have pounced on it, and that would actually do a lot more harm than what he did choose to do. He had one of his better games against Spurs and in reality, there was nothing he could have done with both goals, showing signs of improvement, hopefully he can hold his head high and keep growing in stature. There is still a turning point.
Two excellent saves today against West Ham. The lad is visibly growing in confidence with each game now he's been given the starting slot and fair play to him. I would still like us to invest in a top, top goalie in the summer though.
Yeah, Mignolets Liverpool career looks over surely he'll be moved on in the summer. Would still love us to bring in a real top class goalie though.
I'm glad Klopp has took the plunge and made him number one until the end of the season. The ball is now in Karius court and if he performs he will be number one next season I reckon. Mignolet needs to go to be honest as he has had his chances.
I can see it going down that route, Ward will become his number two. I would still like us to invest in a top goalkeeper, but if Klopp has faith that Karius is his number one, then I guess it's a decision I'll have to back. He has given me more confidence with him in goal, than Mignolet.
The uproar will be funny if we don’t buy another keeper I would like Alisson but if we decide to keep Karius no 1 I won’t be losing my head...some people won’t be able to get over his earlier struggles but definitely a talented GK in there imo some of his distribution yesterday was great. As always trust in Klopp.
Paul Joyce saying that Klopp *will* buy a keeper, after a number 6 & Coutinho replacement this summer too. That's as good as confirmation we'll be getting another keeper in. Mignolet is done & Ward should go to play. Karius is doing well so far, & hopefully this upturn means at the very least he'll be a reliable option going forward.
If it never happened I wouldn't be too disheartened. Karius has so far shown that he has potential to be number one. Let's just see how it pans out in the summer.
Not doing himself any harm. We will need another keeper anyway and if Karius can make the position competitive then brilliant.
