Saw a video the other day and boy does it f##k with your head. It would seem there's a growing list of people believing this, after all we only have what NASA, for example provide us with as proof to suggest its a sphere. YouTube YouTube YouTube YouTube
You'd have to be extremely thick, or gullible, or both, to think the Earth is flat. Have't even clicked on any of those links but i'm going to bet they're all from the tin foil hat society The same sort of people that think Aliens control us all by remote control from the planet Nephros.
Get over yourself where have I said I believed it? I do however think its an interesting thought since we have no concrete evidence to disprove it. What I also find intriguing is this. Byrd one of the few to visit the interia of Antarctica said it was full of all the natural resources that mankind is often at war to control. There have being several joint missions to this remote place that includes the uk, usa & the Russians at height of cold war. It is said that no one is allowed into the interior unless part of a military ops team. So the question is why? What did they find there that makes it classified info. You'd have thought with the amount of gas, coal and other natural resources there it would have being opened up to private orgs for exploration. Without buying into the theory the edge of earth was found and that perhaps the earth is in fact flat, there's something very fishy about it all.
No there isn't. If you take time to watch some of the stuff on the scepticism of space exploration it throws up some intinguing questions. Notwithstanding the apparent images of earth that always provide the same images.
Just thought it would have being a refreshing point for discussion. Apparently the one image we have of earth was taken in 1972. The rest are photo shop images.
Provide a link and lets compare it with other images used and if its identical or there are no signs of clouds moving then it leads to the reason for the proflification of why there's a growing group of disbelievers.
Why do all of the links have desktop in them? have you saved them to your desktop? Do you believe the earth is flat? I'm sorry but that is complete shit. Multiple space agencies from different countries, who were effectively at war during the space age, have shown the Earth to be round. For someone with little background in geology this link should explain things. Additionally simple seismology demonstrates that the Earth must be round. If an earthquake happens somewhere in the world (for example at the India/China border) seismic waves will be picked up at different stations around the world. There are two different waves (P and S waves) which move at specific speeds depending on the material which they are passing through. P waves (Primary waves) move at 330 m/s in air, 1450 m/s in water and about 5000 m/s in granite for example where as S waves (secondary waves) move at 60% the speed of P waves. Now P waves can move through both solid and liquid and so they can pass through the mantle but S waves are incapable of moving through liquids so they bounce through the crust and upper mantle. Based on the time it takes each set of waves to reach the seismic stations it is possible to pinpoint the epicentre of the earthquake, this is impossible to do if the Earth is flat. Who is Byrd and what the actual **** is the "interia of Antartica"? The geology of Antarctica is quite old, half of the continent is a craton that was once connected to Australia. Cratons in general are full of extremely precious resources as they are both old enough and thick enough to have resources like diamond and gold. The other side of Antarctica likely has fossil fuels too, however basic economic geology suggests that if it is too expensive to get it out of the ground then it is not economically viable. Antarctica is covered in thick sheets of ice and exploration for these resources is still ongoing. You actually believe there is an interior? As I alluded to above there is still exploration but if you don't know where the resources are exactly no company will start excavating. Additionally there is environmental issues as there may be microbial life at work beneath the ice and you can't just start excavating and interfere with that life.
For accurate images you're going to need to stitch more high res photos together. Also the earth is quite large, to get a photo of it that isn't stitched together you're going to need to be quite far away and the only real chances of that are from the likes of the Juno flyby enroute to Jupiter.
Guyett, thanks for your explanation at least you have used some form of science to substantiate your reply. I said it was a head f##k from the offset because I believe the earth is round but I found it fascinating that Antarctica is off limits to anyone outside of military personnel. I do believe there's something there in the interior that we are not being told about. Admiral Byrd said there was tons of easily accessible coal. He discovered this on his exploration referred to as mission high jump.
Could you provide some actual credible links on this? Antarctica is accessible to scientists as far as I know
I have nothing to offer beyond my astonishment. Sincere congratulations Shaka, you did what I no longer thought possible, you surprised me.
