    Google searches for "admiral byrd operation highjump coal" just give superyids type alien conspiracy type links. You'll have to forgive me but I don't think that is very convincing evidence.

    Not sure if you would class this as credible but it has historical footage of Bryd himself telling us what he found in 1947.

    @shaka

    Byrd says there is coal along the mountain range, I am not disputing this, I have said there is plenty of coal, oil and other mineral resources. Here is a map showing rough estimates;
    [IMG]

    Research has shown what mineral sources are roughly where by analysing the waters around the continent as there are rivers under the ice which carry isotopic compositions.

    But like I also said these area's are almost impossible to access without spending lots of money so they are not economically viable. Dont forget the environmental issues which would certainly get in the way of starting mining there.

    Surely the day/night cycle that happens is concrete enough proof that the earth is not flat?

    Also, if one believes the Earth rotates on it's axis then were it to be flat, we'd be in a permanent state of sunlight. On top of that, would we not permanently see the moon too?

    That's on the basis you treat the 'flat earth' like a plate.

    They'll argue that the sun and the moon revolves around the earth.

    This conspiracy theory is nuts imo. Literally no evidence to support it. At least with things like the moon landing you feel there is a 1% chance if was faked.

    This was the video that got me intrigued it's worth watching and is only 40 mins long.

    I also think it's worth considering and asking why did the USA take 4,700 battle hardened troops to the Anarctic. All those troops with whatever else was provided by Russia, U.K.......

    What was they told to make them take so many troops and join forces with Russia on such an exercise.

    If Byrd is telling the truth and we have no reason to doubt him they found unfrozen lakes in the interior as well as the untapped resources.

    Anybody else on here ever got an evening flight to the UK from the US? Flying at 38,000ft, you can see the curvature of the earth and watch as you race towards the rising sun. It really is something else.

    As for that video above, it's a load of bollocks made by a boring bloke with too much time on his hands. You're time would be well spent watching videos by Scot Kelly instead, although you'd probably say they were conspiracy material as well..

    Well that's proven it for me, I've just written to my PhD supervisor that I'm dropping out after 3 and a half years as my work is irrelevant.

    Dare I ask how this is even relevant to your ramblings?
    As for why take 4700 battle hardened troops? Well I imagine they're battle hardened as this happened just after WWII.

    According to wikipedia Highjump’s objectives, according to the U.S. Navy report of the operation, were:

    1. Training personnel and testing equipment in frigid conditions;
    2. Consolidating and extending the United States' sovereignty over the largest practicable area of the Antarctic continent (publicly denied as a goal even before the expedition ended);[citation needed]
    3. Determining the feasibility of establishing, maintaining, and utilizing bases in the Antarctic and investigating possible base sites;
    4. Developing techniques for establishing, maintaining, and utilizing air bases on ice, with particular attention to later applicability of such techniques to operations in interior Greenland, where conditions are comparable to those in the Antarctic;
    5. Amplifying existing stores of knowledge of electromagnetic, geological, geographic, hydrographic, and meteorological propagation conditions in the area;
    6. Supplementary objectives of the Nanook expedition (a smaller equivalent conducted off eastern Greenland)
    Do you have any actual credible evidence of this?

    I can see no evidence of Russian involvement beyond crackpot theory websites, provide credible evidence please

    Telling the truth about what? That there is resources? Of course there is resources but like I have said multiple times it is not economically viable to access these resources. Byrd doesn't mention "unfrozen lakes" in that interview you posted earlier.

    Given your persistent posting of shit video's I think it is a fairly safe bet.
