Jose’s third season has arrived 12 months early, that’s all.

I did say this would happen. Just happened a season earlier than I expected.

Can't see either happening but Levy's been ruthless for less than this.

If it was isolated you'd make a case for Jose but that's four pitiful cup exits, a 6th place finish and some abysmal football to go with it.

He's been arguably the worst Tottenham manager for 15 years and I include Sherwood within that.

He doesn't really wait until the 3rd season anymore, he likes to let the rot set in during season 2 these days. He'll start throwing players under the bus now, leading to 'losing the dressing room' and the inevitable departure with pockets full of pay-off cash.

Surely the financial implications are what matters most to Tottenham right now, so to not reach the Champions League is one thing but to not even come close would be another. Obviously still possible they get into the top 4 in the league but they'd need to pull something out the bag to achieve it.

I don't know what the difference would be necessarily, but the financial reward for finishing 5th and reaching the EL semi-final/runner up must be a fair bit more fruitful than dropping out in the last 16 and finishing 7th or 8th?

I don't think he will go yet but the reality is the season rests on the league cup final now and its very unlikely them winning that.

United made an additional £61 million this season from the Cash Cup, and we were out at the group stage and there has been no gate money, the difference between the Cash Cup and the Euroflops Thursday Trophy money-wise is eyewatering!

Yeah, I get that. I'm talking this season. I mean Spurs were asking the Government for loans in Spring 2020, and there is a financial hit between going out so early in the Europa League and an 8th place finish over 5th.

I guess what I am getting at is you could forgive Mourinho if it seemed like he had them on the cusp but they are further away from it than ever it feels.

Maximum EL prize money they've missed out on = 9.5million-13.5million

Once again we reach a new low for being Spursy. United got a ****ing League Cup and Europa League out of him before it all went to shit, we'll be lucky to finish in the top half at this rate.

I didn't think Mourinho would last but surely there have to be questions over the players performances. Seem very Spursy under many different managers, no doubt Jose will be rubbing his hands at the thought of the inevitable payout.

Teams really need to consider managers like him on 12 or 24 month deals or none at all. Rare that it's worth the risk

£15 million per year, no break clause, signed on until summer 2023 apparently. I suspect Mourinho wants the guaruntee of the payout at the termination so will probably only accept minimum of 3 year deals.

He still had enough credit in the bank for a club like Spurs to go starry eyed at the prospect of getting him tbf. Will probably be the same when he takes over at Palace.

10 years ago Spurs could only have dreamt of landing Mourinho. Yes we've got him on the way down and quite frankly it's not worked and he needs to go but I will openly admit I was very pleased he came in because I had huge expectations of what he could achieve. He has completely failed to live up to my expectation and the football is so mind numbingly awful that following this club at the moment feels like a punishment.

Clearly the whole set up at the club has gone completely to shit but yes Mourinho had more than enought credit to come to Spurs when he did.
