Could he go to Chelsea as a backup keeper to Cech without Cudicini anymore. Chelsea do seem to like their Portuguese players.
Saw a bit of this in the pub last night...at least unlike in the Premiership the teams in danger actually performed as if they wanted to stay up! Shock for Betis as I remember they were in the Champions League few years ago? Osasuna did well to beat Real with a cracker as the winner. Recongised the manager from somewhere - Did he used to coach Spain?
Five straight losses for the Madrid c*nts, I had Osasuna odds on to win that game anyway. Unlike in England, I wouldn't say the 3 worst teams have gone down here, not by a long stretch, but an exciting close finish none-the-less.
It's a genuine curiousity how such a clearly defective team can finish 2nd in any league. To lose 5 straight games and not drop a position, impossible in England. I had Osasuna as certs aswell, no shock at all that they turned them over.
Article about Guardiola's film This seems like a brilliant manoeuvre, time consuming as it must have been. Does anybody know where I can find the video? It was shown on public TV apparently, so must be somewhere surely...
After all the shit that Barcelona has been helped by the refs (said by Real bias press) Marca has released how the final standing would have been without major referee blunders... 1 - Barcelona 87 (=) 2 - Real Madrid 74 (-4) 3 - Atlético de Madrid 69 (+2) 4 - Villarreal 66 (+1) 5 - Valencia 64 (+2) 6 - Sevilla 63 (-7) 7 - Deportivo 59 (+1) 8 - Málaga 55 (=) 9 - Osasuna 54 (+11) 10 - Mallorca 50 (-1) 11 - Almería 50 (+4) 12 - Espanyol 49 (+2) 13 - Athletic de Bilbao 49 (+5) 14 - Sporting de Gijón 40 (-3) 15 - Valladolid 40 (-3) 16 - Racing de Santander 39 (-7) 17 - Betis 39 (-3) 18 - Recreativo 38 (+5) 19 - Getafe 35 (-7) 20 - Numancia 35 (=) http://www.marca.com/2009/06/02/futbol/1adivision/1243956226.html
It's because in Spain, everyone can beat everyone so all the big guns chasing the Champions League drop points at times, unlike the Premier, which is now just as predictable as the SPL.
if the LFP is so unpredictable and competitive, why have barca and real not finished outside the top 6 in spain for 25 years?
In just about any league anybody can beat anybody else or atleast give them a game on their day, some of the biggest shocks last season in the PL were in games between the top clubs and those struggling. It may be predictable that the winners will come from usually no more than 2 or 3 clubs in the PL, but it's unpredictable from each individual game. Spain might be more competative overall, especially from say 3rd down to about 7th were theres lots of good teams. However that doesn't mean the quality is particularly great, lots of goals, but much more non-existant defending.
How did Tenerife end up in the Spanish league? I know the Canary Islands is Spanish, but it's weird. (I'm not refering to how they done football wise) Will be a right bugger for travelling fans and teams having to fly there to play them.
just 2 and a half hour from madrid... i reckon los angeles galaxy fans are more concerded when they have to play v new york red bulls
ummm... last time i checked Canary Islands belonged to the Kingdom of Spain mate... perhaps i'm wrong, but i didn't read any new about their Independence...
