I figured icarrasco would have started this thread by now, but with the season about to kick off somebody might as well do it. Fixtures for this weekend are as follows: Saturday, August 29, 2009 Real Madrid v Deportivo La Coruña Real Zaragoza v Tenerife Sunday, August 30, 2009 Mallorca v Xerez Málaga v Atlético Madrid Osasuna v Villarreal Racing Santander v Getafe Athletic Bilbao v Espanyol Valencia v Sevilla Almeria v Valladolid Monday, August 31, 2009 Barcelona v Sporting Gijon Can this be stickied please?
Can't wait. Difficult opener for Sevilla, I'd be happy with a draw to be honest. The amount of talent on show this season is incredible. Some very interesting games this week. We gonna do a prediction league this season?
Will definitely be watching this year closely especially with the quality that will be playing in this league. Should be a superb season.
RM's defence really does look poor, but they are missing Ramos, (any reason to that?) Plus Garay is new, maybe they should play Metzelder more? Plus Real Madrids bench looked poor, no strength in depth? I don't think they'll win La Liga this season tbh.
Real had an outstanding starting XI and squad... After selling Negredo, Robben, Snejder and Huntelaar they have lost a lot of depth in their squad. They still have an outstanding XI (once all the new players get used to play there) but would be enough? Barcelona has a no-worse starting XI, the lot have already shown they have got used to play together, most of the squad came from the academy, and the youngsters perform quite well when needed (Bojan, Pedro, Busquets, Jeffren, Muniesa, Assulin, Montoya, Johnatan, Tiago, Fornás etc) as shown in the preseason Interesting season so far. Real will a lot of games even if the players are mostly new there; their quality is amazing. That said, they won't come even near to Barcelona type-of-play standars, Barcelona will keep on playing the best football around, but Real Madrid forward-power is unmatched
Only saw the goals but from the looks of things that Real defence remains a major question mark. Quality strike by Lasagna though.
was watching the game today and real looked great going forward however there defense was very shaky there first goal that they conceded was comical there was no one picking up riki...... i thought benzema should have scored atleast twice.... also it seems to me that reals weakest position is there full backs .deportivo looked threatening from there wing play ... marcelo and arbeloa are poor at defending.infact i do not rate arbeloa at all . the weakest player in the team
Well Ramos would normally have one of the full-back slots, but then his own defending can be very undisciplined at times.
Ronaldo scores on his La Liga debut, it just had to be a penalty didn't it? I liked the team they put out...I hope they win the league simply because Alonso hasn't got a league winners medal & Ronaldo and Raul are two of my favourite players...so I'd like Real to win. Good start, defence needs to sort itself out though.
Today's half times:- Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Espanyol, I'm watching this game and Bilbao are shading it Malaga 1 - 0 Atletico Mallorca 0 - 0 Xerez Osasuna 1 - 1 Villareal Racing 1 - 3 Getafe The Racing new boys evidently failing to bed in.
Málaga 3-0 Atlético 1-0 Baha (34') 2-0 Manu (61') 3-0 Xavi Torres (89') Athletic 1-0 Espanyol 1-0 Toquero (78') Mallorca 2-0 Xerez 1-0 Aduriz (57') 2-0 Tuni (59') Osasuna 1-1 Villarreal 0-1 Cazorla (31') 1-1 Padiani (37') Racing 1-4 Getafe 0-1 Rafa (12') 0-2 Soldado (29') 0-3 Soldado (34') 1-3 Lacen (44') 1-4 Soldado (56')
So typical of them too, beat Liverpool in pre-season, blow Panathinikos out of the water and lose to Malaga who over the summer have lost half their team, their coach and now must be amongst the favorites for relegation. Remember them beating Barca last season then 2 weeks later they lost 4-1 to Racing Santander, they are totally random, the most Jekell and Hyde team around.
