Imagine if we had sacked him.

Instead, we backed him - and the players have performed under him. Best thing to happen to this club since Brian Clough and that's a fact.

Maybe you're too young but Frank Clarks side was much better. With Collymore, Stones etc. Think you finished 3rd one year with that team.

I went to quite a few games under Clarke as a youngster. First proper good times as a Forest fan. I just think, after 23 years of nothingness, and many many failures, for Cooper to have done what he has done is better than what Clark did.

Both legends for us though now.

He did a really good job for the first two years did Frank but he did inherit a very good squad and was able to add Collymore. The gulf between the top tier and second tier was very small back then as well, very different times. If Cooper get's us established in this league he probably goes in 2nd behind Clough for me

And I dread to think where we would be if we had sacked him and got someone like Benitez, probably rock bottom with 10 points

Everytime Forest pick up points, the teams below pick up points too!!

    So annoying

Seen on the Sack Race some rumours about Steve's job is under threat if lose to Wolves.

    Bit harsh.

Agree - got big games coming up though and we know a couple of poor results and people start to panic.

Not going to deny these games are the crunch but coming into the new season, nobody backed Forest to get many points.

Think they'll get something against Wolves but lose to Leeds.

It's not from a very good source so hopefully nothing in it, but I would rather an ownership change than seeing Steve go because they've reverted back to running the club in the way which failed (throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks approach) before they brought in Dane Murphy to run the club properly, Cooper is the only thing left holding us together and he would be our best chance of an immediate return should the worst happen.

    Spot on.

Maranakis isn't the worst owner, but he's miles behind the likes of Brentford and Brighton. We're in this league because of Steve Cooper and chucking 100k a week at shit like Chris Wood doesn't give Maranakis the right to besmirch this fact.

Guess the way Football is going, Coops getting sacked wouldn't be a surprise.

But please explain to me why Viera is being linked as a replacement? Or even mentioned.

Palace's underlying numbers last season are the only reason I can think of

    #CooperIN

He knows the Championship in and out. Can get us back up especially if we keep some of our good players.

Hopefully he doesn't need to get Forest back.

If down, how many will stay is going to be the main question.

Not many of them hopefully. Most of them wouldn't be able to hack the Championship anyway

Joe Worrall, Ryan Yates, Sam Surridge, Harry Toffolo & Lewis O'Brien (if he even wants to stay at the club)
