A common translation error, as you can see in the image below, Messi is attempting to adjust Robertson's kit mid game, the dedication is clear.

As a result, Robertson was gracious for Messi's kind and diligent service as you can see below in the image of Robertson giving Messi a congratulatory pat on the head.

(Below) Messi waves goodbye to Robertson after a job well done.

So stfu all you trolls. Messi would be a fantastic addition to Liverpool. Especially for tall men like Van Dijk who may have trouble reaching their feet. No worries, however, Messi is as close to the floor as they come.

He owes Barca nothing, let's be honest. Don't think it's fair to say he suddenly wanted to leave when 'the going got tough' either. He's shown loyalty for years and we've no idea the extent of how toxic the club hierarchy is at the moment.

No, because he wouldn't have died without it.

Tbf, its easier to show loyalty when things are going well. When things aren't as good is when true loyalty shows.

That said I am aware that football is a fickle mistress and should Messi have been shite for a season or two Barca may have got shut.

Delighted he's staying. Would have left a stain on his legacy if he played for City I was already preparing a thread on why Ronaldo is better.

Makes no sense to keep an unhappy player at the club really. It must be for marketing reasons or even for a suitcase full of cash for bartomeu from tebas.

By their high standards maybe. But they finished 2nd this season after back to back titles, SF of CL last season, last 6 Copa del Rey finals winning 4 before last season too.

First poor season they have had in a while tbh.

I mean he's the best player ever and they didn't want to lose him for free makes perfect sense to keep him

I'm sure there was a chance to get 100 million for him at some point. Anyway it doesnt matter how good he is if he's not happy it will effect his performance andthe teams performances. Who knows maybe now that leaving for free is not possible city will put in a bid and it might be accepted

Well I guess things have to change a lot this season, or he'll leave for next season as a free.

If somebody comes in with a reasonable offer now, it's going to be hard for Barcelona to turn it down. He's the greatest player of all time, but he's not worth £100-150 million for one season of football.

I think his statement was just as damning, if not more, then anything the press has said.

Damning only to Bartomeu and his board.

After the tantrum, he has finally seen reason; he has realized he was antagonizing the fans, the socis and the club itself (clause expired in June). End your contract and leave the club in 2021 celebrating another Liga title + a mega-farewell party, not after the 2-8, ffs.

That would be nice wouldn't it. What if his last game next year is 2 9 to bayern or psg or any loss really. The best thing for messi and the club would be for him to leave. Better off starting a rebuild with younger players and better he goes to a winning team in a different league to cement his goat status
