Champions League Quarter Final -- First Leg

    Anfield

    Wednesday 8th April, kick off @ 19.45

I am sure Rafa will play his strongest team available, this is not only a must win but a clean sheet is vital too.

Hopefully our recent form will continue and another blinding performance is given by us

Can see us winning this 2-0

    Thoughts?

Chelsea have improved from when we beat them earlier in the season. Gonna be a right tough game, see a narrow 1 - 0 win for us.

I'd be happy with 1-0. Just avoid that away goal.

Why do man utd and arsenal have to play on the same day, i wish the chelsea and pool game, came on the same day, the porto v utd came on. So i could watch the arsenal game the next day. Watching chelsea play liverpool is probably the most painful thing you can wish upon any one.

That's what happens when teams cancel each other out. That Liverpool Man U FA cup final with the ecru suits, jesus that was the worst match I've ever seen.

He will play the strongest team that is availible to him. We really need to put in a winning performance and try win the game this time around, as well as avoiding conceeding an away goal.

Bull, Its has been some of the most exciting games in the champions league recently. As opposed to Manchester United which is mind numbingly boring. As proven by last years final.

Hopefully it is one of those 'Chelsea's season destroyed in 7 days' kind of thing.

    You batter them on Wednesday...
    We beat them on Saturday...
You batter them at the Bridge...

    Everybody is happy.

As for the game, I think Liverpool will take at least a 1 goal lead.

As others have mentioned, don't watch it. Barcelona play Bayern if you're interested mate. If you watch our game you'll get to see the winner play Arsenal in the final.

That final game was better then any of the liverpool/cheslea champions league games. In the first half we cut them open, many times and were lucky not to be 3 up, and in the 2nd half they cut us open many times and should have scored. Your games, with them, there is hardly any chances, its just long ball from 1 goal to other. Its just so tactical, it kills. Compare that to your game with arsenal last year, a great 2 leg affair, i enjoyed it. Like chelsea and liverpool against any other team in the champions league is watchable. But chelsea agaisnt liverpool is painful. The only thing that makes me want to watch it is because, its hard to pick a winner and the games are very intense.

I agree to a certain extent, our games in the champions league againist Chelsea have not been known to be thrillers. However that usually happens when 2 of the best teams come up against each other, especially over 2 legs due to tactics from the away team. They tend to cancel each other out. But finals are different all together, the tactics of managers are completely different, everything about the whole night is different. So to compare a semi or quarter final to an actual final is not really justified imo

Yh maybe it is hard to compare a final to a semi for example. But i am sure you would rather watch liverpool play either arsenal or man utd in a 2 leg affair then chelsea. Like i said liverpool or even chelsea are great to watch in europe, but its just when they meet, that it kills. Like imagine arsenal and man utd played in a 2 leg affair, am sure it wouldnt be as dull has chelsea vs liverpool.

Oh yeah i see your point. I just think the odd time you can get an exciting tie in a quarter or semi final between 2 of the best teams, for example us vs Arsenal last year, but most of the time no matter which 2 it is, they will more than likely be a snoozefest rather than a thriller

Yeah, I mean who could forget the epic Man United v Arsenal FA Cup final of 2005 eh? :rolleyes

Most boring final of all time...games beween big clubs are nearly always boring. Too much to lose, both cancel each other out, the great attacking players that usually rip other teams apart are playing against the best defenders they'll meet all season, etc...

It'll be a bore fest most likely, both are defence first teams. I'm actually looking forward to it to see the tactical approach Hiddink takes, does that make me sad?
