To take some good snaps with that I can post on here.
    Anyone got any suggestions?

Preferably no more than £200 but as cheap as I can get a good one for is best.

Entry level DSLR ? I am not sure about the costs. But save yourself on the camera and invest the money in some lenses.

I doubt you'll get many Entry Level DSLR's for under £200. Although you may wanna look at some 2nd hand SLR's maybe, or are you thinking just a digital camera Jay?

I don't really know too much about camera. I just want any camera where I can take some nice, effective pictures to be honest  Is my hope of getting one under £200 abit ridiculous?

I think he is looking for a DSLR. Even on this side of the planet a good entry level DSLR will set him back 250 pounds minimum. Maybe second hand is the way to go.

On an SLR, yes. The cheapest you'll get is probably £250- £300. And it definitely isn't worth spending £200 on a compact camera.

This is the main thing that's putting me off getting a camera at the minute. I don't have a clue what lenses I'd need to buy. :slap:

New, Nikon D3000 or Canon 1000D are your best bets.

The Canon has a bit of a plastic feel to it which is why I got a 450D instead of the cheaper 1000D. The Nikon is supposed to be very good and has a nicer feel to it than the 1000D but I prefer Canon's as I find the picture quality to be slightly higher.

Another plus point of the Canon is that you get the DPP software with it which is very good for fine tuning photos or adjusting any cock ups you may of made with the white balance when shooting in RAW.

Just remembered that the 1000D doesn't come with the image stabilising lens anymore so I don't think it's worth getting.

So with your budget I'd go for the Nikon every time.

I've just been for a quick browse in comet and pc world and despite being £100 over my budget the Sony NEX 3KB really took my eye. Anybody got anything to say about that one?

If you're look for a DSLR the general impression i get is that this will end up disappointing you.

I've made the same mistake before in going for a camera that seemingly bridges the gap between a compact point and shoot and a DSLR and was left frustrated and got myself a DSLR within a year.

Especially at that price, i'd say don't do it.

Mind putting up some of the photo's you have taken ? I had/have a 12 megapixel Sony point and shoot and doesn't really compare to the quality of a DSLR.
