Good half for us but Palace haven't done anything so a bit hard to judge.

Lindelof on for Mount. I like it, protects him for the weekend and allows us to see amrabat in cm

Casemiro in an attacking role >>>>>>>

It's almost as if a manager can start to implement a system when he has his players fit. Who knew?

    Haven't been impressed by pellistri.

Hannibal probably should have seen a second yellow by now tbh

Let's hold fire until we see us against a proper team and not Palaces b team

Neither have I tbh but I think we just need to give him a run in the team we have some easier games coming up if he stinks he stinks but at least it'll allow Reguilon/Shaw to get back so we can play Mount rw

Very comfortable, no injuries, rotated players. Would have liked to see Casemiro come off but there we are, it's not like he had a stressful night.

Another goal, an assist and several of the passes that he hasn't been making successfully so far this season came good, so I doubt Casemiro wanted to come off. Let's not forget he'll (probably) have at least 6 games off due to suspension before next summer . . . ;)

Last night was our best performance of the season, let's hope we kick on from it and build some form with the 'easier' run of fixtures we've got coming up.

Mount, Maguire, Amrabat and Casemiro were all excellent.

It eill be a much stronger Palace side on Saturday, so I doubt we will have anywhere near as easy a game, but it was at least positive to see our midfielders turning up, regardless of the strength of the opposition.

I spoke to someone today who reckons we looked so much better because Rashford wasn't in the team, and I have to admit that's not something I'd considered.

On a positive note I'm looking forward to seeing Amrabat and Casemiro in the same midfield.

I don't know how anybody can watch that Garnacho performance and think we looked better because he was in the team and Rashford wasn't. That's obviously horseshit.

We looked so much better last night because we vs more recently because a) frankly Palace weren't very good and were happy to sit off of us b) we actually had ball progressors in deep areas again (Maguire, Amrabat, Mount when he was dropping into lb to progress) and c) we didn't have a couple of pansies in defence (Lindelof and Martinez)

The point (re. Rashford) was that so much of our approach play ends up a dead end when he runs into blind alleys, he never seems to know when to release the ball and he seldom crosses for a teammate. It's odd because he's supposedly said he doesn't see himself as a no.9 but he's definitely not a left winger either.

He's a forward, a goal scorer, assisting isn't his primary role and let's be fair, if you've been carrying a team for 5 years playing alongside some of the ****ing idiots we have been putting on the pitch would you pass rather than try shooting yourself?

Also 9 assist all comps last year (plus 13 and 9 in Ole's 2 full seasons) is not exactly the return of a guy who 'never seems to know when to release the ball' is it?

Personally I think he could do better but I'm not going to crash on the (arguably) only guy in the team who can consistently get us up the field closer to the opposition goal and score goals until the rest of the team is doing MUCH better. All this talk about Rashford (and Bruno) is idiotic imo when they're the only 2 elite attacking players we have in the squad surrounded by loads of shit.

Just imagine how horrific last season would have been if Rashford wasn't bailing us out every other week

It's not last year any more though, and it doesn't look like he's going to repeat his heroics of the last campaign. As I said, I've read that he himself doesn't consider himself an out-and-out goalscorer, yet he clearly isn't a no.10 or a winger. I'd love him to go on a Rooney-style scoring streak and bag a load of goals but so far this season he's been pretty poor in every dimension of his game.

I don't agree at all, other than maybe Dalot he's been our best player, nobody else has even offered a hint of threat
