Mate Dave is dogshit, compete undefendable and he'd be shit in the championship. There's a reason he's not played for Spain in over half a decade but because he pulls off a flashy save every now and again and he's the last of the fergie xi to win anything he gets a free pass from the idiots.

How many more times does he have to cost us before we're free,?

I could not give a shit about the striker we're going nowhere when we continue to concede absurd goals every other match we must become s solid unit that's at least very hard to beat next session.

Absurd 'logic' given that in the previous rounds we knocked out Betis (5th in La Liga) and Barca (top of La Liga).

Even if we had beaten them 4-0 in both kegs, we would still need to strengthen. There's at least 3 positions in the starting XI we aren't good enough in, and our backups for CB and DM aren't capable, or in the case of DM, don't exist.

I do not agree with the narratives around our CBs at all. Maguire and Lindelof are more than capable cbs and for all the talk about Ten Had wanting to play possession football both are more capable of doing so than Varane is who is easily the worst out of the 3 on the ball and when he plays requires us to play a deeper defensive line thus making us less compact (which shows by the fact our defensive record is MUCH worse since we brought him in). Varane only plays because of Dave's incompetence as he has the best recovery pace to mask Dave's lack of sweeping.

We've spent hundreds of millions on our cbs over the years and we end up talking about them all in the same way yet there is only one common denominator. CB is the one position in the whole squad where we're actually stacked and have no depth issues. The only argument for a new CB is that Maguire, Lindelof and Varane are all 29/30 going into next season and that Varane is a crock so getting somebody younger could be prudent.

I disagree with pretty much every word of this.

We actually have CDM now, and we've played with 'Champions League Varane' and 'World Class Martinez' for the vast majority of our games, yet we've already conceded more goals than in 19/20 and at a higher rate than 20/21 despite having a lower defensive line (2022-23 | 41.52 (18th) vs 2019-20 | 45.07 (6th) & 2020-21 | 46.16 (4th)) yet we're led to believe that Maguire is a fridge that can't defend or play in a high line whilst Varane is this GOAT defender who facilitates us playing in a high line, it's nonsense.

You won't see me defending Varane, in fact he's on my list of players to get rid of in the Transfers thread.

Maguire however is atrocious in every way and has been since that incident in Cyprus on his holidays. No idea why that would have made a difference but it seems to be the point we can trace his collapse in form back to.
