You still haven’t got Folarin Balogun to declare for you guys. He’s taken to top level football in France like a duck to water so far.

To be fair, we were doomed the moment this was tweeted.

In all seriousness though, Berhalter has to be replaced. With whom is a difficult question though, this is international management.

Yup, I couldn't tell you off the top of my head who I'd want.

My guess is we're going to see Roberto Martinez walk through that door for a disappointing run to the Gold Cup.

I think a lot of nations will be looking to appoint Hervé Renard, he's shown himself to be a brilliant tactician, motivator and able to get the best out of every player on the pitch.

63 seconds the Dutch had the ball for in the build up to the 1st goal. Reminds me of the superb team goal Argentina scored against Serbia in 2006 when they did something similar.

Is it sure he'll be sacked?
I mean, come on, round of 16 for USA SOCCER, that's more than Germany did. You can't sack a coach after this ;)

However if he'll be sacked, Jürgen Klinsmann is ready to give it another go ..."it's in his blood"

And Joachim Löw is also ready again to coach, he was great for Germany for 10 years and shite for the last 5, maybe he'll be great again. Where else to show this as in "MAGAmerica"

Banned from writing in the Bundesliga thread. Bye :bye

Renard did come to my mind but I don't know if he'll be a good fit. Might be worth it short-term though since he has a track record of making his teams overachieve and if we overachieve at home in the next World Cup, that short-term gain could very well turn into long-term gain.

feels to me more like a case of he shouldn't have been appointed in the first place, rather than he just needs to go. however, the reason he was appointed is the same reason we'll be in bad shape if he's sacked: there's no one else. that being said, on paper, this squad has some of the best players we've had in years--at least when you consider where the majority play club ball compared to the mls-filled squads from years ago. many of them are still inexperienced, though, both in age and in high level competition/tactics. the latter was illustrated clearly after a few minutes against the dutch, when it was obvious just how much more well-drilled and managed they were. we just looked clueless and conceded two identical goals as a result. we shit ourselves and it wasn't until late in the first half that a few players took more risks and showed a bit of courage, and we created a few good chances within a few minutes. the lack of depth is still an issue, as well, especially up front. sargent is our main striker, but when he's out, it's wright or ferreira; neither of whom are good enough. why pepi wasn't selected is beyond me. i would have even thought about bringing hoppe instead of wright or ferreira.

Maybe US would benefit from having an experienced European/South American coach for a few years, instil some tactical nous into the young players. Can’t be many homegrown coaches who have worked at the top level abroad. Any experienced foreign candidates in the MLS? Either that or go full crazy and appoint Bielsa.

cherundolo and matarazzo are the only ones i can think of that have experience abroad. both have experience in the bundesliga (he just won a league double with lafc, as well). cherundolo was an assistant and youth coach with hannover and stuttgart, while matarrazo recently won promotion with stuttgart and kept them in the league.

Well he’ll probably be available soon by the looks of it. Although no sense in going with the tribute act if you could get the real deal.

Initially had that with Klinnsman and it worked out for a little bit. I think the expectations on him were too high at the time considering this was the era where the Dempsey/Donovan generation was aging out and this group was too young. I will say he didn't make it easy on himself, either.

But I do think either send a bunch of American coaches out to learn in Europe and South America (IMO while we're seeing gains in player talent, the local coaching is below-average at best).

Could be very possible, tbh. The experience at Red Bull helps in terms of development of the younger guys, and if he's given a full cycle to develop and hopefully some new players emerge, it could be decent. I don't think he'll be out there pulling up trees, but he's better than who we have (locally at least).

and was sacked after keeping them in the relegation zone (with a last second escape in the final minute of the final game) for 2 seasons in a row.
But he's not a bad one, imo

Pretty shite at Leipzig, sacked after only a few matches. "Im Arsch" was he mocked (Arsch is one of the german words for Ass (but also for Asshole ) ;) )

true story. though i'd argue that his time under nagelsmann and even a few seasons as manager of stuttgart make him more qualified than berhalter or sarachan. you never know, though, i guess
