The intensity / passion is just lacking when you don't have that genuine connection to a team. It's nice to have someone to root for to make the interest less neutral but I'm sure the Californian 49ers fans will be feeling that defeat much heavier than some bloke from Surrey. It's probably why college football is as popular as it is because a lot of people don't even have an NFL team in their own state.
Bloody hell. Just watched the game in its entirety ( fast forwarded the half time bollocks) and to win with three seconds to go is crazy. Unbelievable pressure on the last play.
Can someone explain to me why the chiefs weren't kicking to level with seconds to go? And the commentators were not mentioning there was any urgency to do so needed. They were just talking about some ot ruke change and how it was almost fine if they didn't equalise before time was up
…my understanding is; Both teams get a possession each but also get to complete a possession each - so as the Chief’s were still in possession if the clock had expired they would have just started a fresh 15 minute OT period. She definitely goes up about 3 points without the glasses on…
Yes. It's either first to score touchdown wins, or if the team who has the ball 2nd can't tie the game after a FG.
I don't believe so, if OT had ran out at that score then the 49ers win. Chiefs had their chance to possess the ball and didn't score in the time allotted.
different rules for the post season. 100% would have continued into a second period of OT if the Chiefs were still in possession …otherwise where was the urgency from them? if it was shit or bust they’d have taken the time out and kicked to guarantee the game continued.
Apparently there's been shots fired and several people hit on the Chiefs Superbowl victory parade. Not many details but I don't think any of the team have been involved. Edit: Found a link on Sky two people have been arrested not many more details. 'Multiple people' hit by shots fired near Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl parade
Saw that. Difficult to have any kind of reaction to shootings in America now to be honest, just indifferent towards them until they actually make an effort to stamp them out.
The Russell Wilson experience in Denver is ending, capping off what could be historically the worst trade in the sport, if not all of American sports. Not to mention one of the worst contracts in the history of the NFL. Denver now with close to $60 million in dead cap and few picks as Paton and Payton have decided to go through a rebuild. I do hope they can convince our receiving core to stay as they're one of the best in the league (to put up those kinds of numbers in spite of Russ). I'm anticipating some bigger veteran names will look elsewhere for a more competitive team to play for, so I'm hoping they can be flipped for decent draft picks.
Genuinely the first time I've made a correct prediction about something in the NFL. I'd love to gloat but look what a dumpster fire the Commanders have been instead!!
The price tag associated with him is really what hurts his reputation (and also being massively cringe). He's getting MVP every year level money but performing like a run-off-the-mill QB. Had he not cost that much he could have probably been allowed more time, but now he's just another name in the parade of Denver's history of failed QB's not named Elway or Manning (although I will defend Jake Plummer till the day I die).
