Denver traded It's soul to get Wilson; two first-round draft picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick and three players to Seattle in exchange for Wilson and a fourth-round pick, and just before the start of the 2022 season Wilson signed a five year contract extension worth $245m. It'll take a while to recover from that, even with Sean at the helm. As far as I'm concerned, Russ will always be remembered for being intercepted by Malcolm Butler when he really should have handed the ball to Lynch. Thank you Russ, thank you Pete..

This is karma for us laughing at the Texans when they signed Brock Osweiller to a massive deal.

I'm just glad we didn't have to trade more picks just so we could get another team to take Russ like the Texans have to do to send Brock to the Browns.

On the bright side I guess I'm gonna be into college football again since I gotta see who will be joining us over the next few years.

The Pats are trying to trade Mac Jones away from New England. Unconfirmed reports that they're interested in Russ......no, sorry, can't even type that as a joke..

Russ signed with the Steelers for vet minimum, thank you Denver!

Above average QB play (probably) for less than the majority of teams are paying for backups and some third stringers.

Under that system, he'll be a decently productive QB for you. He wasn't bad at all last season under Payton, but I just don't think their personalities lined up. Without the massive contract and weight of expectations, he should be a decent, if unremarkable QB. Net positive for the Steelers, I think.

As long as he doesn't bring his cringe-fest with him, you should be fine.

Mac Jones has gone to Jacksonville to back up Trevor Lawrence. Meanwhile, word on Beacon hill is that we're resigning Jacoby Brissett to a one year deal, meaning we'll be looking to the draft for a long term deal. I wonder who will be the 199th pick this year?

    Strange:

"The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields - just a day after signing Russell Wilson

After leaving Wilson, 35, was set to be Pittsburgh's new starter after they traded the incumbent Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles.

But now the Steelers have also brought in Fields, the Bears' starter since being a first-round draft pick in 2021.

"Can't say thank you enough to the city of Chicago for taking me in and embracing me."

A mobile quarterback, Fields showed flashes of his athleticism during his first two years with Chicago, although some questioned whether he relied too much on his legs to escape pressure.

After just three wins in 2022, Chicago had the first pick of last year's draft but kept faith in Fields by trading that pick to the Carolina Panthers for receiver DJ Moore and several draft picks.

Those included Carolina's first-round pick this year, which turned out to be the first overall as the Panthers finished last season with the NFL's worst record.

But this time Chicago decided to move on from Fields - and that they could not pass up on that first overall pick a second time - especially with several quarterbacks being among the most highly-rated prospects in this year's draft class.

"Thank you to the entire Bears organisation and ownership for allowing me the opportunity to be part of such a historic franchise," Fields added.

"But most of all thank you to all my brothers that I played with. You all were the reason I attacked each day the way I did. I wish each one of you nothing but success."

Pittsburgh, who have not had a losing season in 17 years under coach Mike Tomlin and were knocked out of the first round of last season's play-offs, have now overhauled their quarterback roster during free agency.

As well as bringing in two of last season's starting quarterbacks, they have let go of Pickett and his back-ups Mitchell Trubisky (Buffalo Bills) and Mason Rudolph (Tennessee Titans), who both started games after Pickett suffered an ankle injury in December.

Broncos trade for QB Wilson….again….sort of….it’s Zach Wilson this time.

That’s a hell of a bust from the ‘21 QB draft class

    2. Zach Wilson
    3. Trey Lance
    11. Justin Fields
    15. Mac Jones

It’s ok - when I get injured he will take my place and then he’ll get injured and I will take his place then when I get injured….etc etc.

Or he might just be thinking I’ve got a 4 year 180 million dollar contract with 100 million guaranteed & I could spend most of that as second string - that sounds awesome

Steelers have absolutely nailed this draft so far, three guys all filling positions of need whilst being BPA, and then a flier on Payton Wilson whose upside is tremendous, despite his injuries. Put him in a rotation with Elandon Roberts inside (alongside Patrick Queen) and the team are laughing. Could do with a bigger framed receiver to regularly play outside and a nickel corner, and that’s all the immediate needs filled.

Omar Khan and Andy Weidl are cooking.

A repeat of the AFC championship game will open the 2024 season when Kansas host the Baltimore Ravens. I think this is the ultimate test for the ravens because I really think that if they don't do it this year they never will while John Harbaugh is in charge.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady will make his broadcasting debut in Cleveland in week 1 when the Browns host Dallas. Brady signed a deal with Fox prior to him retiring in 2022 and is set to earn around $375M for his troubles..
