Our u21s would probably get beat but just the sheer fact they're meeting in a competitive fixture is a win for us in itself.
Oh the joys of leaving behind Non League and the FA Trophy for this competition have always dreamed of playing in.
I'm surprised there isn't more discussion about this We've travelled to Harrogate with Felipe and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the starting XI
Nobody's that interested unless they get into the 1/4's semi's etc . Do straight red cards in this comp qualify as player(s) being banned for League matches as Orient have had 2 tonight theoretically meaning both those players miss Posh away on the 16th .
No idea on the rules, it's a domestic comp though so usual rules would apply I guess. We appear to be losing though - Cooper out!!!
It was Warren Joyce leading the team tonight so Joyce out I guess! It was the easiest of the three ties for us tonight so I'd say the chances of progressing and humiliating Derby(if they can even progress through themselves) with our kids are slim now. Always next year!
It's always a big ask of any U21 side to come up against lower league pros. Nice to see Osong on the scoresheet though, definitely seems to know where the goal is
After tonight Reading fans are loving the Papa Johns Trophy! 9-0 win away at Exeter! Both teams rotating heavily from the league campaign, so it only really shows who has the better depth, but wins like tonight don't come around often.. As apparently that's our biggest win in any competition in 122 years I'm not going to knock this competition (this season). It's a nice change entering a competition where it's not unreasonable to think you can win it.
Think they lost 0-7 at home to Cheltenham in either this comp or the league & then got their revenge later on on the season though can't knock scoring 9 when teams score a shed load a lot of times they draw a blank next time out but well done nonetheless .
I thought Exeter won 7-0 in the league cup last season . Did they play a particularly weak team of kids?!
The Exeter team tonight had a higher average age than the Reading team. They also made fewer changes (9) from Saturday's league game (Reading made full 11 changes to starting 11). We lost away at Exeter in the league a few weeks ago.. So I guess this was our revenge?
Well done to the young Red Dogs who won 2-0 at Carlisle tonight, no senior pros in the 11 tonight so a great effort. It's a shame Notts couldn't shock the Scum, but there's always next year when they meet in league one . Many congrats to Newport who caused the biggest upset of the night winning at league one Cheltenham
Just seen our goals. Fair play to the young lads, that 2nd was well worked. A bit of Brazilian flair on show......
Oh dear After 2 pitch inspections & a pitch deemed playable for 7.30 kick off at 2.30 not surprised at 6.15 game is called off , shame on Posh & the EFL appointed referee who deemed it fit . I hope the club pay the travel expenses of the 100 or so Crawley fans who were & probably already made the trip , becoming a bad habit with Posh , they should have learned after the Charlton debacle last year .
Cheers , Fergie's picked a very strong team & DMac wants another day out at Wembley , personally , the £100k ( I think ) prize money for the winners would be well needed but I've never been to a game & never will for me it's like the Nations League an unwanted competition that hardly any fanbase gets a hard on over until the Final itself .
Just as and the 'big' boys left. If Wycombe get through tonight we will be big underdogs in the Semi, but nobody expected us to go to Derby and win so who knows.
