Honestly I don't think even if we signed a Kante or the likes it would change anything.

He is clearly a talented player when he wants to be. And he shows it on occasions even with us. Which to me suggests the reason for his form at United is simply because he doesn't particularly care. So why try and cater to a player who isn't going to give you even close to the effort or attitude you'd expect?

There's no denying his talent, and if he had Fernandes's attitude he'd be the best player in our squad every game.

Completely agree tbh. My point was we're falling on our sword if we offer him megabucks and not address the CDM problem. For his talent and salary he needs to be utilised properly. Without a top CDM we may as well get rid. The baggage he brings isn't worth the hassle for me.

With a proper CDM, Donny and McTominay could battle it out for the number 8 spot behind Bruno. If Pogba wanted to play that position and signed a new contract then great, but I don't think he fancies either the position or our club, so I would get rid after the Euro's.

I still maintain that we missed out on a huge financial opportunity by not selling him after the world cup

When france win the euros, with pogba a key part, psg will come calling. Madrid too.

Juve will want him on a free.

    * should be pointed out, this is more in hope than in certainty.

Maybe Pogba and his agent will wait it out for a big payday next summer?

This is exactly what I fear. He’ll pull the same stunt as he did with Donnaruma at Milan, trying to charge the club a fee for their own player. It’ll go on all year and railroad our season.

We'd be foolish not to at least entertain offloading him off the back of this tournament, which he's looking like putting a good showing. Madrid will be looking to do the same with Varane.

you'd think a swap would be in the best interest of both clubs

Possibly, doubt we'd entertain that though.

Pogbas arguably the most marketable player on the planet outside the obvious 2 and Madrid would snap our hands off for that deal. It does count these days especially at the elite clubs.

The problem is Pogba will do what his agent decides is best for Pogba, and bollocks to United.

aren't his goals and assists pretty much identical with what he delivered at juventus? honestly, i think he wants to be at united, but i think he was under the impression the board would have tried a little harder to bring better players to the club. as we've seen, that didn't really happen until very recently, with bruno and cavani. and even those two only really proved to be class after the fact; bruno was a relative unknown and many people didn't think he would cut it in the premier league, while cavani was a 34 year old deadline day panic buy.

i have questioned pogba's commitment--and i definitely think the responsibility for his agent's comments over the years fall on his shoulders--but with players like dan james or mcfred around him, there's only so much pogba--and bruno, as we've seen--can do on his own. a better class of player brought in will ease the burden a bit. i mean, bruno is constantly coming all the way back to the defensive third to pick up the ball, while ole is shoe-horning pogba out on the wing to make room for mcfred (wtf?).

It’s easier to be elite when you have World class players all around you picking up the slack. He’s had them at France and Juve. Rarely at Utd.

I said at the time of signing.

Pogba is the player you want to apply the finishing touch to an already stacked midfield.
He is not an imposing presence there when he is the one expected to be the game changer.

At Juve he needed a world class 2 mids in a midfield 3 with himself.
At France Kante does most of the midfield running.

    Etc

Pogba himself is never going to be the player that makes a team dominant. He compliments a dominant team.

That and his attitude is shit

Can't deny that he turned up last night and seemed the only one who wanted it.

However, this debate about him not having class players around him is just plain bollocks to compensate his inconsistencies.

How many times he lost the ball in dangerous positions when he could've played a simple pass, I lost count.

Not everything has to be Hollywood.

Agreed. Whilst he's capable of things many players aren't it also baffles me how he's seemingly incapable of applying the basics. So frustrating.
