Yeah but that was only to store. As far as I remember, you had to transfer the data to the PS5 SSD to play the game. Pain in the butt. You can upgrade the SSD now though. That's a plus.
External Storage? I've read various sources that it can't be done?? You have to transfer the Game Data from external to SSD to continue playing? Maybe something has changed. The SSD upgrades to replace the current SSD's are ridiculously expensive.
There's an SSD upgrade that goes inside the PS5. I've seen it done. They are however like you say, expensive. A few hundred quid.
Looks like demand is steadying. Game still have pre orders available and it's been 4 days now. That or people are skint.
There is an additional internal slot for an SSD drive. I put a 2TB one in mine and it was pretty easy to do, and on top of the original one should last me. Only downside was the cost, I paid £295 for mine as I wanted a top end one, but you can get them a bit cheaper. Just make sure it isn't too thick and you'll need a heat pad (which comes with some).
Yeah there's a video on you tube of a guy doing it. Pretty simple to do and good that Sony have made it that way. The only thing that pisses me off about the playstation is that in rest mode, it doesn't supply enough voltage to the USB ports to charge my headset through the base station.
I used the YouTube guide for the SSD. Thankfully it charges my headset okay, but that would wind me up as well. Can you plug it in an phone charger to charge? I would do that but I am paranoid my house will set on fire..
It will charge it if I plug the headset straight into the PlayStation but not via the base station as it requires more voltage. Pretty annoying
Finally was on a queue on Playstation to get one. Wasn't gonna try my luck going to the stores when they restocked this week as I was out of town, but managed to get one through the official store.
I got the Samsung 980 Pro with Heat Sink. Initially I got the Western Digital Black SN850 but it wouldn't format. It's suggested that you do the firmware update on the Samsung 980 so the read speed increases up to 7000 but I think you get to around 6500. Standard I get without the update is 5700 and I'm cool with that.
Thanks, I'll probably rock with the base model for a bit as I'm already spending a bunch of money on it, and upgrade at a later date, but may hit you up when the time comes.
Yeah, Bro. Not a Problem. I got the 2TB because my Brother plays it a lot more than me so he has his own account. He plays 1 or 2 of the same games so the space will be of great benefit to us.
Anyone with a PS5, have you experienced issues with it randomly switching off? When it it is switched back on, it mentions an unexpected error. Happened a few times but I put it down to the extension lead I was using and after reading up on that lead, others had issues with the lead switching off.
I haven't noticed that myself but a mate of mine did on the PS4. His was on the way out at that stage, so hopefully yours isnt the same issue. Maybe take it for a clean/service and see if that helps?
