Just cancelled my Prime TV, bastards adding "limited adverts" unless you cough up £1.99 a month for ad free? Wait, we already pay a sub, so now they want a sub, sub? Vile company, one of the richest companies on the planet and once again they wanna sponge more? Its not that I cant afford £1.99 a month, far from it, its the principle. **** them and I hope many follow suit. We all know "limited adverts" will go from one ad, to two, to three and we'll be seeing the same tedious adverts every 20/30 minutes.
I only have Prime on a 30 day free trial every year around Christmas time, for the football they have, then I cancel it immediately before they charge me anything. As you say, the 'limited adverts' will become full blown ad breaks, I've noticed the breaks on some of the channels like UK Gold are now 6 minutes long. They used to say you could nip and make a brew during the break, these days you can make a coffee, beans on toast, eat it and wash up your plate while the ads are still going . . .
Yup, same as Youtube (without an add blocker running) they now sneak in two ads instead of one and at times have them popping up every 2/3 minutes. They start with one short ad, then add another, then a slightly longer one...they take the piss.
I watch a lot of YouTube and it’s the one thing that pisses me off. There used to be a trick of reporting the advert as being misleading, NSFW etc and you could skip non-skippable ads but everyone else must’ve cottoned on so they changed it
It’s a no brainier for me as we save more in postage a month than the cost of the subscription. It is cheeky though
Yeah it's part of my Amazon prime subscription which is still the best value subscription I have, I order so much from Amazon. But it is a little annoying. Saying that the ads are really short, for now.
YouTube ads used to be...look at the state of them now Its not that I cant afford it and yeah Im cutting my nose off to spite myself, but Im sick of big companies taking the absolute piss these days. BTW, I shop on Amazon less these days, its too dear mate, anything you buy on there you'll get far cheaper on eBay.
I don't use Amazon for shopping enough for it to justify the free postage so I'm definitely considering getting rid of prime. My problem is I have Britbox through Prime and I can't seem to get a stand alone app for it on my TV - any ideas how I can get rid of Prime and keep Britbox?
I made the mistake of subscribing to Prime for 12 months, mainly because it was an offer my wife couldn't refuse for the free postage option, but I can't remember the last program we actually watched on there. Offer ends in May, it won't be repeated..
You can still access Prime add ons through Prime, you just can't watch Prime programs. I currently have Paramount and Lionsgate, can still access them on my Firestick via accessing Prime. Can't seem to on the computer though for some reason. Actually scrap the last bit, just realised you just need to search for Paramount+ in the searchbar on Prime.
They have gotten rid of a lot of their stuff to the other sites that charge you extras like Britbox, Arrow, etc these are watched and subscribed through via your prime, so no doubt they get a good cut. Its just money money money for them.
We have a streaming service here called Binge. Only costs $10/month (about £6). I can understand why they do it to keep costs low but if they turned round and offered me a $15 option with no ads I would snap their hands off. Been doing exactly what it says on the tin and bingeing a few shows this last few months. Problem with the ads is it is the same ones over and over - might be more tolerable if they were varied. Personally I am just fed up of ads full stop - just fed up of companies trying to sell me shit I don’t want or need
My ad-free Prime is £3 month. I paid it because I been watching few shows on there just finished watching Reacher and that was decent. There's another handful shows I want to get through and I can't tolerate any sort of adverts. What irritated me though rather than just adding it to the £9 bill so you pay £12 instead of £9 they made it a separate bill coming out on different date. I got one of the channels that's costing me £5 month (Not even sure which one it is) as well and again they've made it a standalone bill so 3 bills coming out on 3 different dates. It doesn't need to be so messy.
Was offered a free delivery subscription by Amazon a few weeks before Xmas so thought nothing to lose by signing up and also got Prime thrown in. Cancelled it a few days before they automatically had me for another month this time having to pay.
I've done that for the last 3 years in a row. You only need a month to catch all the footy that's on Amazon around Christmas, then cancel it online.
