Wait, there are actually overtaking lanes in the UK? Is it something like this - The main lane is the one on the left and whenever a driver needs to overtake, he moves into the right lane and then overtakes the car and moves back into the left lane?
In Mikes mind, only the outside lane ever exists. He just thinks there's two hard shoulder lanes next to him
Not quite lol, I use the outside for overtaking, then back into the middle. I avoid the left lane like the plague. I'm sorry if my driving style offends.
I think people with road rage are pathetic. It's kind of like being an e-thug (it's easy to talk trash and act hard without face-to-face). If you know you do it then why can't you stop?
Must admit, I totally agree with you Mike. The left lane is for those who refuse to drive to the speed limit. Pisses me off when you have arseholes dawdling along on fast roads. Stick to the limit or f*ck off.
As my instructor said, its a limit not a target. To be fair, I'm very much like Mike. I rarely travel in the left hand lane, unless the motorway is empty. I find that 90% of the time when I'm on the motorway I'm overtaking traffic in the left hand lane anyway.
It is a limit not a target, buy you can get pulled and even fail your driving test for going too slow. And I don't fancy doubling the length of my journey time being stuck behind a lorry for 4 hours on the M6.
No one is saying you should for god sake. I'm saying, when you overtake a lorry, move back over if there's nothing left to over take for a while, don't just sit in the middle lane.
Are cars built with indicators nowadays, or is it just ignorant people that can't be arsed using them? 90% of the cars that were in front of me on my way home from work didn't use them at all.
Why? If there's no one to overtake then the road us half empty, what difference does it make to anyone what lane I'm in? Shall I swerve in and out of 2 lanes for the sake of it? You'd look gangsta cruising behind Eddie Stobart in the left lane in your RS, my little bad boy racer. Safe.
So the motorway is empty, you sit in the middle lane? Are you an epic moron? So i'm sitting in the inside lane, i have to move over 2 lanes then back over 2 lanes to overtake slow bellends in their shit cars?
They appear to be unnecessary on the motorway at least, as some people drive in lane 2 all day and never change lanes, so don't need to signal! Not at all. Just sit in lane 2 and then I'll have to "swerve in and out of" 3 lanes in order to pass you.
lol, I'm never slow, I rarely need overtaking even in the work Transporter. And I say empty, but the left lane is toe to toe lorries 24 hours a day, I see no point in weaving in and out of them. There are far worse drivers than me out there, believe me.
Anywho the rule is, lane 2 and 3 are for overtaking only. if you sit in the middle lane when not overtaking, you're just slowing cars down.
In all fairness I normally stick to close to a ton unless my daughters in the back, so I'm not following rules either way, and I won't slow anyone down. If you're doing over a ton use the fast lane and come back over. I didn't mean to create enemies with this conversation, I'm just being honest lol.
