In the Sunday tabloids today, Coyle has put in a bid for Owls striker, Marcus Tudgay Rumour Mill-Now £1.75 Million Bid for Tudgay
That guy from Hibs sounds a better bet, Steven Fletcher. £2.75 million bid for him by all accounts and he's only 22. Not sure if Coyle is hoping that at least one from Scotland,Fletcher and Tudgay will sign for us or whether he would sign all three if he could?
Sharpy mate he scored 14 goals last season ... and played half the season in midfield. His work-ethic and passion are a joy to behold ... he is quite easily the best outfield player (I rate Grant as our best player) we have by some distance. When sums of £5M are being spouted about for Jermaine Beckford ... somebody who's never proved it in the Championship ... and when, for example ... our neighbours paid £2.25M for both Henderson and Sharp ... £1.75M is nowhere near enough. £2.75-3M is the bare minimum I would expect to see Wednesday accept.
I was joking Martyn. I've watched him play numerous times at your place and you can't fault his energy and passion.
Oh dear now up on Rivals Owls site: It was announced shortly after last season ended that the Owls number seven had agreed a deal to stay with the club and extend the contract which expires at the end of the forthcoming season. But there has been no pen put to paper as indications are it was only agreed verbally and Tudgay would sign on his return to pre season training this week. Marcus I think will have to think his career options very carefully. Play in the Prem with the Clarets or continue supping Coke in the Championship?
We need to keep him I feel. Hope it does stay and that the lure of the Premiership wont be too much for him!
He's just signed a new three year contract. Plus the fact the chairman has stated we're not a selling club anymore.
£3m for Tudgay where did that price get dreamed up from? Martin Paterson scored 19 goals for us last season and he cost around £1.5m in the end up and he's about 4 years younger than the Sheff Wed fella. Oh and he spent a lot of time just like Tudgay playing deeper or on the wing.
