Not sure about that, we played some good stuff when he first came and the first two months of the season

Injuries hit and he had no plan B at all, defensively we were a total mess and he seemed to give up. That's the bit I didn't like about him. He is very dour though and if you suffer from a MH condition I wouldn't listen to his post match pressers.

He'd have a good budget at Scunny with scope to bring in technical players which he likes so I'd say a good shout and has had success at NLN before.

I disagree mate, I was bored stiff watching his footy, he had the luxury of a fit Mancini for 6 games and that kid turned us into a free flowing attacking machine, after he went it was stodgy football from then out, we'd go a goal down and that was it, game over.

Like you say, might be better a league below when most of the oppo are part timers.

The football under him was boring at York too but effective in NLN, not so much in our league

Scales though innit - we've had Paul Hartley and Keith Curle. Askeyball is prime Barca in comparison.

Overall I'd be confident if I was Scunny getting Askey if his heart is in it.

Can be a BIT dour Askey that you can forgive if results are going your way.
But cannot forgive him for NOT knowing Hartlepool has a beach.

I'd take Askey, our fans are obsessed with former players though and he has no Scunny connections so they'll hate him as an option

    Andy Butler announced as manager

Criminal decision, zero experience. Going to be a long old year

Can’t help but feel that’s a cheap decision getting Butler in.

He was very much thrown in at the deep end at Rovers, at a time when many of the issues behind the scenes at the club were starting to show. But we looked utterly pathetic under him which has to be a concern

I do wish him well though as he’s a top, top bloke and a brilliant person to have around your club

It's absolutely the cheap decision, the club is still in a very bad place financially due to the historic debts created by our last 2 owners

Just don't see the point in not keeping Dean unless he was asking for a huge wage increase or something

This league is brutal, you need an experienced manager.
Every club raises game against you.

Has he been assistant or coaching anywhere?

Maher had the same reservation, on the experience front, wouldn't swop him for anyone ATM, although we will do one day.

He’s been on our coaching staff the last year.

He was Donny’s manager for a short period and has a horrible record

No offence intented here because I don’t know your financial situation but surely throwing money at it last season and not getting promoted has probably made the club go cheap on the manager no?
