Don,t think he could take on a job, Would have lost his Woking compo, Or so. i heard. Maybe KP was just a stop gap and Sarll was always going to take over.
Sounds like he's known it's his job for a while now, said it elsewhere but that 7-1 at Gateshead did more damage to KP than we probably all realised.
So Raj strung KP all along knowing full well Sarll was coming in once he'd got his Woking severance. Very poor that but you expect that from him. Harsh on Phillips even if I didn't completely warm to him. Not positive about Sarll coming in.
Sarll walked out in November, no idea why though. I thought he'd be back in football by now. Having said that if you want someone to shithouse 1-0 away wins then he's your man. It wont be pretty though. He's incredibly spiky, doesnt like interviews and will stop your players doing them too. The pressure at Hartlepool will be much increased from his Woking experience, we were just happy to be in the play offs for the first time ever. If he's learned his lessons and doesnt sign 30+ cripples on £2000 a week then I think he'll be a success. He's not really interested in developing youngsters though. He'll get Hartlepool into the play offs I would say
We have a core here of about 5-6 players who really are stand out, the problem has always been the other 15-18 are way below average or perpetually injured, we do have an academy and have blooded some youngsters already who have put the seasoned pro's to shame, be crazy not to utilise them. Right about pressure, he won't get time here, has to hit the ground running, owner wants instant success and to be honest fans demand it just as much, if Jonny Donuts from part time Trumpton come to Pools and run rings us the fans let them know, place can be toxic when it's not going well. I'm optimistic about it, retained list will be telling, as will his signings, width and pace two attributes this side have been severely lacking.
I see Gills have sacked Stephen Clemence after 6 months, they'll more than a few Shrimpers waiting for them wanting to approach Maher or Currie. I don't think Maher would leave, but you never know if Daz is happy to remain as an assistant?
I was wondering if they would look at Dean Brennan, or Luke Garrard instead, but that's a fair point raised. Not sure Darren Currie would turn that down.
Obviously Gerrard would be cheaper and a better option from our point of view. Maher and Benno both played for Gills after us, but it was after. Brennan having had success getting Hornchurch promoted and finishing the job off that had already been started, hopefully wouldn't go unnoticed by them either. Also the fact that before Clemence, Neil Harris only lasted 9 month's hardly smells of the job security they have here, once the sale is completed and we'd easily be on a par with Gills. So enough to keep Maher I think, but Currie, is he happy being an assistant? Hope so!
Just one normal season would be unreal, just a bog standard, zero drama season. Think Raj just thrives on being the most toxic piece of work going.
Regardless of what you think of KP as a manager, that’s very poor form. Sounds to me like Sarll has been in the pipeline all along.
I don't really like how we piss off players and managers like this, our name is ****ing mud in the game. All I want is a club that represents the area, stability, ran in a human way with a plan. Raj Out.
If I could read the dire English in that it might make sense. Shambles. All over the National news now. Raj and his bootlickers need to get gone.
