it’s out this weekend isn’t it. I’m gonna check out the reviews before buying it, same with dragons dogma 2. If you want to play a samurai game then Sekiro is the way to go and best by a mile imo (I’ve played loads of samurai games), as long as you don’t mind dying a thousand times. What was wrong with the gameplay? I thought the combat system was excellent in it, especially in the duels
ah fair enough dude, I loved it. It is visually beautiful, some of the settings where the duels are set are incredible
It was a beautiful game and I’d love a sequel. One of my few platinums. Ronin isn’t getting great reviews, visually meant to look like an early PS4 game but also meant to be quite repetitive. Shogun looks great, finishing up Reacher and I’ll start this next week.
I’ve previously posted that I’d read the book and watched the first mini series, but I didn’t realise this was based on a true story. Shōgun: why the English samurai’s life and legacy still grip Japan 400 years on
Nice insight into the past of the two women, but this episode was sort of setting up the next one, which I am assuming will be all action.
Great episode. There’s some great acting in this show. Takehiro hira (who plays ishido) is one of my favourite actors. He was fantastic in giri/haji, which is well worth a watch if you’ve not seen it
I liked Giri/Haji very much. Tbh I didn't recognize Takehiro Hira at first in Shogun, maybe because he's a male actor, on the other side I immediately cheered when I saw that Anna Sawei (plays Mariko) is in the Cast of Shogun (she played the daughter of Yakuza boss Fukuhara in Giri/Haji). Beautiful actress and in episode 9 of Shogun had some great scenes. Great japanese actors overall, especially the Toranaga actor, Hiroyuki Sanada, for me. In the former TV mini series from 1980 with Richard Chamberlain as Blackthorne the Toranaga part was played by the legendary japanese actor Toshiro Mifune ( Seven Samurai) Overall this tv series is a real highlight for me, a gem. Can't wait for the final episode (and surely be sorry afterwards that it is over)
Overall this has been one of the best mini series I have watched. Spoiler It's kinda made clear throughout the series that all the sacrifices were for Toranaga to assume power. The levels of those sacrifcies were different from Mariko to Hiromatso to the several villagers that he sacrifices like insects to mentally wound up Blackthorne. I absolutely hated Toranaga by the end. I haven't read the book or seen the original, & I understand that historical figures (even fictional ones that are loosely based on the real ones) have a different take on morality, because those were different times. Just hated Toranaga by the end. That's all.
I hated the last episode. It was underwhelming imo. I knew they wouldn't show the battle but I was hoping for more. Toranaga turned into a tricky terrible person. Using everyone to get what he wanted, admitting he didn't care about Blackthorne and would keep burning his ships to keep him, etc. Mariko dying ended up being pointless and Blackthorne was left with nothing in the end.
Three episodes in. First two were slow burners but clearly setting the scene. Third was class, looking forward to more.
As good as the series is finding out it's only gonna be one series annoys me. I know it's based on a book but would like to see these characters more feels unfinished even if it technically is.
