Having now began to deal with what happened on sunday and stopping myself from putting my foot through my tv whilst listening to the post match interviews with our Manager, he should take responsibility that our relegation was his fault.

I personally would have preferred to see him go at the end of the 2004-2005 season after watchin him meddle with the team and stand on the touchline scratchin his head pondering what to do and ultimately we missed out on the play offs. He would have gone at the beginning of the 2005-2006 but for his luck being in and us setting off like a steam train, and despite his meddling in the middle of the season and his tactic niaivitity and stubborness was there for all to see, he returned to the formation and players from early season after calls from the fans and stumbled over the finishing line to promotion.

On sunday his luck finally ran out but NW continues to blame this referee, this linesman, this manager for choosing an understrength team and that ineligle world class player, but no one is more should take more criticism than him and he need only look in the mirror to see why we are heading back to the championship.

True we should give him credit for turning the clubs fortunes around, providing stability and making us a very progressive club but on the field his tactics have continuosly been found out, and if he really is a blades fan at heart he should realise this and want the club to progress further even if at the expenses of his position in club.

I was personally happy to give him the chance with a war chest none the like he'd had previously in the summer to see where we were heading and by Christmas he'd guided us to a healthy position and managed to pick up points on the road too. But as the season wore on it began clear that from January onwards neil was gambling on our home form especially the last 5-6 home games against teams near the bottom of the table to decide where we'd be playing next season, and gamble that has ultimately failed.

I look back at the January transfer window and still dont understand why we werent attempting/purchasing players to come straight into the team, and not as put by NW for the future. Seck, Fahti and Shelton have made no more than 5 apps between them and Killgallon was injured and some would say that Stead was a gamble too (which paid off as he scored goals), we were at one point 10 points clear of the drop and with experienced premiership quality players would have easily survived from that point.

The period of in activity in february and march as a result of the swansea debacle didnt assist either, someone at the club should have pointed out that failure in the fa cup although providing a focus on the premiership would lead to periods inactivity due cup weekends and internationals, but surely a few cup ties won would have bred some confidence into the squad, instead it sapped some of our fringe players and some werent seen again all season.

Apologies for the length of this thread but the final point I should make is the poor sorry pathetic tactics/formations away from home 451 did not work and I lost count on the ocassions I would hear the fans grumblin at half time or full time that we had played this way.

Since january we played this formation at Liverpool, Chelsea, Bolton, Manchester Utd and Aston Villa and scored 0 goals and conceded 10 goals, playing 442 against Boro,Reading,Blackburn and Charlton we scored in every game. The 451 formation is not favoured by our players and we'd seen last season that the players stuttered for rhythm and results whenever we played this.

Sunday called for experience and players who'd could hold their nerve and while we shuffled our player of the season to right back and had a midfield that didnt cost a penny on the pitch, Wigan had players who had bags of experience in the premier league and from the world cup with Unsworth, De Zeuw, Heskey, Kilban, Landzaat, n Valencia.

Ultimately though the season wasnt lost on sunday it was lost away from home since January with the formation and negativity that Neil created from our games where he gave us no chance to win or at least get a point or score to protect our goal difference. We should have settled it at Charlton when we only decided to play our own game up once we went one down and with more adventure would have won that game but yet again Neil let us down and played for a point.

Please now walk away and let the club you love move on.

(Press conference called for 10.00am tomorrow is he doing the decent thing?)

Pretty much what I have just said to Martin via PM.

If only NW spent as much time studying his own and his team's shortcomings rather than blaming everyone else except him.

Completely agree with redandwhitebertie and Kelly.

I cannot remember the last time he came out and publicly blamed himself for something. He is also the reason why we are despised by almost everyone, he's managed to just about get on the nerves of fans of every other team during his time in charge. Not to mention the money he has wasted in the past, good god.

Time to go I think Neil. Give someone else a go.

Is it time for McCall to go too?

I hear you have Coleman lined up for the job?

I thought you guys really liked Warnock? It seems from briefly reading the main post that you almost single handedly blame Warnock, as opposed to players not performing. Do you think he gave the players the wrong messages or just picked the wrong teams in the wrong formations etc?

I think Sheffield United were relegated mainly due to tactics used away from home where they only picked up 11 points all season. The 4-5-1 just didn't suit their style of play and they suffered for that.

You can only blame the man who creates a squad, picks the team and tells them how to play.

It hasnt got anything to do with liking someone everyone has their limitations in life. If he'd been good enough for the premiership do you think it would have took so long to get there?

He is good at what he does and that is manage a team with its limitations and constraints. He doesnt have a scouting network to attract the type of players needed in the premiership to survive, he is great at picking up a medioca player for a bargain.

He has openly said he couldnt have got anymore out of the players in the squad, so it wasnt a case of the players not performing but still he wont take the responsibility for the way he asked them to play.

I do like Colin (sorry) on occasions as he has a personality but to be honest all this endless moaning after a defeat just makes him sound bitter and gives your club a bad name.

Anyway see you guys next season sadly in the Championship...maybe we can be the next Sunderland and Birmingham!?

    :hmmm :thumb

BTW Can we go back to us winning at the Lane and you at the Vic?

I'm fed up with Warnock's 4-5-1 away formation. Against the big teams we expect to get beat, so why not use a 4-4-2 and lose the game by going for it, rather than sitting back? And against the smaller teams we should be aiming to win those games, and 4-5-1 is too defensive. Jagielka is also a waste in midfield. He should play at the back or not at all.

Not sure about McCall, apparently Hutchins wants him as his assistant at Wigan. Haven't heard anything about us going for Coleman either, but I would welcome him with open arms at Bramall Lane, very loyal and passionate.

Love Warnock and will be sad to see him go. A press confrence has been called for in the morning where he will anounce his resignation and "the way forward for the club"

I'd like to see McCall make the step up. I would have no problems with more of he same, but if we brought in an outsider I would prefer Pearce to Coleman.

"Stumbled over the line to promotion"

Gained more points than this season title winners Sunderland & the gap to third was amongst the biggest since the league's were reorganised in the 1990's.

Way you carry on you would think we've finished bottom with a record low points total. We missed out by one goal. Such are the margins.

Saying that though I agree he's had his chance & I hope that tomorrow brings in a new manager. I favour a McCall/Kidd partnership.

Yes we did like Warnock we thought he did a great job last season when he was given the biggest warchest he has ever had and spent wisely.

This season has been the total opposite he has showed far to much respect to other teams and played negative sh*t tactics likethe 4-5-1 formation and we got hammered nearly every time playing it.

His pathetic Excuse is we have not got the players to play 4-4-2 away from home what a load of bollocks And reading have there wasn't that much difference between us and reading last season.

But the difference this season is coppell has played attacking football and prospered where as warnock has played negative sh*t and failed.

Also the clueless tool spent 11m oout 14m on squad defenders and strikers yet didn't buy a couple of creative midfielders we was crying out for.

That is why a vast majority wan't warnock out he has done great things for the club in the past but he let us down badly this season.

I would like to see Chris coleman given the chance to get us back up now and given a big war chest to get us there and a massive clear out of the sh*t squad players.

Exactly woody what our fans are frustrated about is the lack of Effort from warnock away from home he come out with teh bullsh*t excuse that we didn't have the players to play 4-4-2 away from home.

Yet the times we did play 4-4-2 we won on 3 occasions away from home we never won any playing 4-5-1 just goes to show how clueless warnock was away from home.

Also he showed to much respect to the other clubs and basically put 3 points on a plate for the opposition.

If warnock would have played 4-4-2 at villa park we would still be in the prem now maybe only on goald differnec in the end but in the prem all the same.

Because i don't think villa would have put 3 past us playing 4-4-2 at all:thumb

The tiems we have been robbed this season he has a point most of the time but we should have been well safe by now it's his negativity that has cost us.

that says it all really against wigan in the dieing minutes when we need a goal you would think he would bring a striker on low and behold he brings a f*cking defender in claude davis all too reminiscent of a few seasons ago when we was playing millwall and we needed a goal so what does he do brings chris morgan on a nd plays him as a Centre Forward:slap:

Given that you slate Warnock for his away record why do you want a manager whose team has barely managed an away win the last two seasons?

Because he is a good manager and had done wonders keeping fulham in the premiership on a shoestring budget and i think he could do well for us.
