Donnarruma was class. Don't think he put s foot wrong all tournament. Real pity he's putting money before playing for a footballing giant in one of the top 3 leagues. Even the young players are being tempted by psg's big money contracts.

Swap Ronaldo for Schick, Dolberg for Insigne and Pedri for Xhaka and it's bang on.

Think Chiesa should have won player of the tournament, Italy looked dangerous every time he had the ball.

    Donnarumma
    Walker Bonucci Maguire Spinazzola
    Hojbjerg Jorginho Pedri
    Chiesa Lukaku Sterling
Lukaku over Kane/Ronaldo/Schick is the only one that really sticks out for me.

    No Luke Shaw?

3 assists, 1 goal, only 2 goals conceded in 5 games - absolute joke.

Spinnazolla seems to be getting a lot of rightful credit but the bloke missed the final 2 games, and is selected above a left back who scored in the final having made it that far.

I really hope Lukaku wasn’t selected for “representation purposes”.

He’s had a decent enough tournament but still seems an odd choice for him to be ahead of other players.

He was the standout player in the tournament for me until his injury.

Whether that's enough to get into the team of the tournament I'm not sure. Maguire is in it though and he missed two games too

I'm not sure that I'd have gone with Kane ahead of him personally but Lukaku? Really?

Stat padding against the minnows, one of which I'm pretty sure was a tap in to an empty net (I think?) and then a penalty in the knockouts.
I don't think Kane had a great tournament by any means but I think he had a better tournament than Lukaku still.

I'd have Schick ahead of both.

Big Rom looked tired to me, which would make sense as he's barely missed a game going back a long, long time. Thought he still did okay, but nothing like his brilliant best. I know there aren't many standouts, but Kane, really? He looked laboured and plain bad for a large part of the tournament. Schick deserved that spot.

Chiellini absolutely should've been in ahead of Maguire. But as someone who has given Maguire a lot of stick, credit to him for a good tournament, and further credit for having the balls to take a pen. Hilarious that he had to take the second pen, but there you go.. Spina over Shaw and Maguire over Chiellini are strange calls, considering the extra games played. Thought Shaw was England's best player.

    Think I'd go:

    Donnarumma

    Bonucci
    Chiellini
    Maguire

    Dumfries
    Busquets
    Pedri
    Shaw

    Chiesa
    Schick
    Sterling

I'd like to shoehorn Maehle in there really but I decided to pick someone who actually played RB.

    I’d go

    Sterling - Schick - Chiesa

    Veratti - Jorginho - Pedri

    Spinazzola - Chiellini - Bonucci - Dumfries
    Donnarumma

Pedri should absolutely be in as well as Jorginho. I think you could make a case of anyone else from Italy’s midfield.

I kept Spinazzola in as he’d have a good case for player of the tournament but think Shaw is a fair shout. I don’t have a problem with Maguire but Chiellini/Bonucci was a force the entire tournament and was just about unbreakable. Right back is the toughest call for me but Dumfries did very well.

After the Spinazzola injury I think you could make a case for either Chiesa or Donnarumma for player of the tournament. Chiesa was a huge difference maker in attack for Italy and I think taking him out of the Italian side would have the biggest impact given Italy’s talent in midfield and defense. That said, it’s hard to argue against the tournament Donnarumma had. It’s a real shame he isn’t staying with Milan or even Juventus
