Three people not in the draft who have nothing to gain or lose from their votes. Only way the rankings become worth a ****.

haha not that again! I think maybe out in the open voting where you have to justify your votes could be the way forward next time (although that would take away the suspense & also affect votes so maybe not). I dunno, at least something different. This time Viper won by a decent margin so the winner wasn't affected but there's usually only a few points in it.

    I voted you 4th

It doesn't matter what voting method you use. There will always be some wildly varying results and a handful of people unhappy with them.

Can't remember my exact top 3, but I think it was Red Viper, mrwatford and Guyett. Had Kaboose and Tony_Adams quite high as well so it surprises me how low they both finished. Think I had Prolifik in like 10th

Also, how did Blasian and Joga finish so high? I had both of their teams well down  Anyway wp all x

We need a new way of voting.
How can someone vote ollie 1st and someone else vote him 17th lol.

    2 people voted doc 16th and 2 people had him 1st (I was one of them}
How the fook can a team with Henry, Aguero tevez, Kompany, Lahm, khan, Lizarazu, Hargreaves, hypia, sniejder and Reus be voted 16th.

For the future of this draft and maybe just so we can see why can those that. Voted doc 16th explain your thoughts behind it? Just really curious.

    IKR?

Seriously though, why are you surprised with your high ranking?

You had by far the best defense, an extremely solid midfield, Beckham and Bale are fantastic wingers in that formation and two of the finest finishers in this time-frame. My only issue with your team was Toni, who while was a good striker, you could have picked a better option. In fact you did with Das Phantom in your last round. Ideally, I would have picked him over Owen but I had no idea how he would be rated here. But, I for one rate him him extremely high. If you had someone like Klose/Trezegol/Drogba/Vieri instead of Toni, I would have had you at top.

    Congrats The Red Viper! :winner

    - During the draft we need to talk about our players more (especially less known players). If you don't know a certain player, or you don't rate them, make it known.

    - We could have a pre-vote chat about our final teams (iron out any worries/problems)

Regarding The Doc's team, voted 16th twice is definitely ridiculous but his team wasn't amongst the best teams, IMO. I usually love the way he and AJ draft their teams because they pick players who I generally like/rate but in this one I had them lower. I had The Doc around 10th or 11th.

Back to The Doc's team, I didn't think his attack was that good. He had his best player playing out of position. Yes, Henry could play on the left flank but he made his name for himself as a main striker with the license to drift out wide. Not the other way round. He struggled when he was asked to do the same at Juve and his first season at Barca. He won't be bad or anything. He will still be great. Just that, not the same Henry who was the best player in the premier league history. Its not the same as playing Leo as right sided second striker or Cristiano Ronaldo on the right wing or Ronaldinho centrally.

Also, Henry - Aguero - Tevez seemed overkill for me. I was surprised when The Doc went for Tevez because I thought he had the perfect team to play a diamond/4-3-1-2 formation. Tevez just made it overkill, IMO. And then having Sneijder, who played his best football as a number 10 and Reus so deep was the issue. Sneijder in deep would have still worked if he wasn't expected to do the second most defensive work. Due to his midfield set-up, Hargreaves would have had to end up doing a lot which TBH he would have found overwhelming. Even Rijkaard would have found it tough. Nevermind Hargreaves. The Doc's defense was very good though. For me, if The Doc had played something like this, I would have had him in my Top-2 for sure.

    -------------------Henry---------Aguero-------------------
    --------------------------Sneijder----------------------------
    -----Ze Roberto--------Guti----------Hargreaves-----

I think how we put a formation down is blown out of proportion to the actual point of the draft. This draft was to build a team of players that excelled in the 21st century. It wasn't a draft that needed the teams to play against each other in real life. Yes the team had to be functional but to punish someone because in your view that team wasn't set up how you would play isn't the point of the draft.
Docs team (for example) is far stronger individually than when you have added ZE Roberto and Guiti.

My point though was we are obviously all judging it in a completely different way.

But balance matters a lot. And, no draft teams are drafted hypothetically with the idea that they will be pitted up against other great teams. When I am confused between two teams or three teams for lets say the Top-3 positions as they are more or less of the same quality, I just think who would win if there was a hypothetical match between the the three and go with that team as the decider.

You are right. Ze Ro and Guti aren't as talented as Reus and Tevez but they would complemented the rest of the team more. Look at the Real Madrid Galacticos or the Argentine NT. What did they win? They have had kickass attacks but their spine is weak and unbalanced and that is what costs them. What would Tevez and Reus add that Henry, Aguero and Sneijder wouldn't have?

Take your team for instance. Why did you go for Motta and not another AM like Mata who is obviously a better player?

The Doc's defense was great, even though I wasn't a big fan of his attack, it was still really good but his midfield was the main issue. When you are going that top heavy, you need to have midfielders who can do the dirty work.
