    Congratulations and well done Germany.

Pleased a European team won It In end and not a south American bore fest.

What a brilliant World Cup It's been, Shocks, Amazing Goals, cracking Goalkeepers.

One player that caught my eye this tournament was Gonzalez of USA.

Messi, winner of the best player in the tournament?

What a crock of shite, based 100% on reputation. Muller for me not only scored more goals but has also actually performed well during the games unlike Messi, so would have been more deserving of it.

Agree with others - it's been a great World Cup to watch.

My only worry, if you can call it that, is that as the tournament went on, the gulf between England and the other teams just got wider and wider. We're in truly dire circumstances.

But that's not for tonight. I was rooting for Germany, but I don't think they deserved it in the 90. And extra time goal is about right on the night.

The media's obsession with Messi is just so annoying. Keep banging on about him not being this or that until he wins the World Cup.... ridiculous. There were 10 other players out there with him. Mascerano was their best player, imo.

It really is tedious (and it's not just the media). One thing I definitely won't miss from this World Cup.

Messi, one assist was all he conjured up in the knockout stages.

James Rodriguez was involved in three times as many goals in the knockout stage, despite playing half as many games, and for a worse national team. And was also better in the group stage.. 99% of people would have had him as player of the tournament i'm sure. Messi only chosen as FIFA need an icon to hold the sport.

Messi also walked out of the middle of the Argentina manager giving them a team talk. Don't think his heart is in it for Argentina.

Would Germany have won this with Hodgson in charge? I don't think so - his natural defeatism would have brought them down, which is why we need to get rid if we want to emulate the Germans!

We also need talented players, with more technical skill. We also need players like Schweinsteiger who puts his body on the line for his country.

We had one, his name was John Terry.

England don't play as a team. We have no identity, no style. We're a hit and hope team. This World Cup has shown you don't need exceptionally gifted players to get out of the group phase. You do need a togetherness, and a clear vision that is drilled and accepted by everyone in the team. That's what is missing.

Really happy for Germany and even happier that the argies were crying at the end.

I honestly don't know how the f*ck Messi got the golden ball. He was utterly anonymous in the final. There are at least 5 players that were better than him. ****ing ridiculous decision.

What a great way for Klose to end his international career aswell.

It was hardly Terry Butcher style was it?

Although it was one of the better world cups, well ok the best ever, I do feel most of the quality games were during the group stages. Once they got into the knockouts a lot of the games were pretty boring.

Player of the tournament should have been Macherano IMO. Excellent in every single game plus Argentina would simply fall to pieces without him. Messi had a few poor performances and by his standards was fairly quiet tbh.

That free kick at the end summed up Messi's game for me. Never at the races, his name should not be uttered alongside Diego's ever again in the corridor of greats..

He got 4 motm awards, more than any player in the tournament. That's how the award works sadly enough.

Seeing Götze won the motm award yesterday proves how ridiculous it is.
