We're talking about the covid vaccine here. Panja has had all the shots and has only recently had a booster, and has come down with a bad case of covid. Therefore the vaccine didn't work, at least in his case. Can you at least admit that, rather than trying to deflect at every turn?
LEF's right, and I'm a bit pissed off to be honest. I had a booster in July just before I went back to the UK to see my ageing parents. Admittedly I'd not had a shot for a while but then again I live in Melbourne and thought '**** you, Dan'. I won't be doing it again..
Maybe the conspiracy theorists are on to something? I have accepted every jab offered, but I am not old enough for the latest booster rounds, so haven't had one in a while. I got a new work laptop at the start of the pandemic and I have noticed that it is starting to run a bit slower lately. Obviously the chip that was in the vaccines is wearing off.
bloatware probably android on those covid chips, only stands to reason I suppose seriously though folks. it's a fundamental part of understanding the immune system to understand how the response is generated and how long it lasts for. polio and smallpox are quite stable viruses however the human immune system only "remembers" what to look for for so long. polio is about 18 years and the number of doses is set in developing countries where the most recent vaccinations have taken place. as it can replicate and mutate fast enough in effect you get the thing wiped out. small pox is supposedly about 5 years but again the thing was wiped out. these flu viruses mutate that much that the immunity is short lived. it's really that simple. the body sort of recognises it but not rapidly or doesn't at all. the simple science is that the antibodies fade over time as the body doesn't need them unless exposed a lot. the longer term b and t cells are there in small numbers and ready to replicate. the faster the thing mutates the shorter the benefit from vaccination. so I got 3 of the vaccines, 2 Pfizer when available and one booster of moderna and nothing since. I also don't bother to test either as the symptoms are obvious and I won't be infecting anyone despite not having a paid for stick up my.nose to tell.me what I already know. I also have not had a flu jab btw and I don't need one just yet so let the older get their and appointments. Vaccines are great science, but they rely on the human body doing what the human body can do. They just prime the pump and let our actual immune system get a head start on viruses. it's amazing how people don't bother looking this stuff up and prefer wild conspiracies and dangerous scammers to actual science. BTW any injection has risks. You are putting stuff into your bloodstream directly, thsts why water for injection has such high standards.
Basically the Government thought it was a bit of a joke and nothing to get too bothered about I feel till it was too late .
It's either complete incompetence or corruption and feathering their own nests with corrupt, inflated contracts. Personally I think it's a bit of both, the worst of all worlds. Hopefully the Tories are about to pay the political price for the incompetence part. But the corruption part really needs to see people going to prison for it. Sadly I doubt it'll ever happen because it'll be too hard to conclusively prove.
Obviously becoming a bit of an issue again in Spain - particularly hospitals. Spain to reintroduce mandatory face mask wearing in hospitals after spike in flu and COVID cases
yup. worked a treat. my personalised ads for christmas on my phone were awesome base don bill gates tracking. Plus i didn't get sick.
Had COVID after holiday travels. Had a bit of a stuffy nose, but weirdly it was after I tested negative when I got really sick with a sinus infection and a nasty cough so dealing with that now.
I've noticed more people wearing masks in shops again recently. Usually families or couples where one hypochondriac has probably pressured the other (s) in the household into keeping themselves safe as houses with a little fabric mask Had COVID for the second time a couple of months ago. What really makes me laugh is the changing values from employers. When I first had COVID I wanted to work because it was just a cold and I've always worked whenever I've had a cold. They acted like I had space AIDS and forced me to take a full two weeks off despite the fact that I was fine. Fast forward 18 months and I have it for the second time. I get a call on my day off asking me to come into work to cover sickness. When I tell them I'm sick too and have COVID I'm urged to come in regardless because it's "only COVID"
Not as extreme for me, but I work remotely but frequently go into my company headquarters. A colleague of mine was showing COVID symptoms and before, you had to fill in a few forms and test to be able to even enter the building. Now she was just asked to 'wear a mask' and 'try not to be in conference rooms for too long.'
They literally make this shit up as they go along and tailor the rules to suit. The same company I work for was literally going to sack people two years ago if they didn't get vaccinated and now the staffing is a bit short and it's not newsworthy anymore it's miraculously no issue.
