Well with us being Spurs, there is no doubt that we will be very active during the Summer in terms of transfers, but surely we have to be more restrained than Ramos was last year? He didn't have a clue, he just bought some decent invdividual players and didn't know or even think about how they would fit into a team.

I would like to see us sign an out right LM. Downing maybe. He gets a lot of stick, but there is no doubt that he could add something to the team, and when we were after him before, he seemed very keen to come.
I also think we need a LB. BAE has improved a lot this season, but I would feel a lot safer with a solid LB. TO be honest there aren't a huge number of good LBs around at the moment, but if we are willing to spend a bit, Zambrotta and Lahm would be worth the price tag.

Bentley is a tough one. Everyone, including himself, knows that he's been shit this season, but I honestly think that given a good run of games he will come good. After being so good at Blackburn why would he suddenly lose his ability? However, if anyone offered anywhere near what we payed for him, I wouldn't be too dissapointed to see him go.
Bent can go. If we get more than 8 or 9m for him i'll be ecstatic. He's improved this year, but unfortunately for him, he is behind Defoe, Keane and Pavlyuchenko in the pecking order and next season he will struggle to get any starts.

Has anyone else got any views on who we should sign in the summer, and who we should let go? Let me hear them....

**maybe this could be made a sticky, unless anyone disagrees?

I don't think we need to make too many changes. Two or three signings should be enough; our squad is quite big as it is. LB position is fine, IMO. BAE is doing OK there, plus there is more to come from him IMO. Bale can fill-in when we need him as can Chimbonda. We may need to replace Bent because I don't think he's gonna want to be in-and-out of the team again, and he's 4th choice as far as I'm concerned. If Campbell goes back to MUFC we'll definitely sign another striker. LW position may need to be looked at; we don't know if Harry intends to play Bale there or not. That said, I think we probably need a dedicated LW.

And yes, this thread should be stickied.

Bit early for transfer talk but I must admit I do like discussing possible signings & departures.

For me LB is ok BAE & Bale are both young and I'm certain one of them will shine chimbonda & corluka can also play there. Bale has been given a lot of stick I really hope we don't let him go I reckon he'll become a top player.

We certainly need a LM we have done for so long I like the look of farfan a quality player for PSV but hasn't done it in his first season for Schalke. He has an Abundance of pace can play LM RM or up front so could be a very handy squad player if nothing else.

The strikers we have at the minute I feel are perfectly balanced but it looks as if Bent is on his way I hope Dos santos sticks around next season so maybe he can feel that spot.

    My dream predictions

    Ins- Farfan, Foster.

Outs- Chimbonda, Zokora, K-P Boateng, Gomes, King, Gilberto, Rocha.

You 'predict' King will be let go in the summer? No chance, IMO. He's our best defender, and we would have to spend a shit-load of cash trying to replace him. No-one that good would join us anyway, IMO.

Agree about GDS, I hope he comes back to Spurs and plays a part in helping us climb the league next year. That said, if Bent goes, we'd have 3 little strikers (GDS, Keane, Defoe) and one big striker (Pav), and I'm not sure that's ideal.

Foster? As in Ben Foster? We have Gomes and Cudicini. Why do we need another keeper?

As for King out?.. don't be silly.

Imo the squad is fine as it is. No need to go crazy in the summer.. we've got a decent squad. Harry might not agree but I wouldn't change too much if anything.
LM issue is solved with Bale imo.. at worst Lennon can play there with Bentley on the right or Modric can play on the left.

Foster is no better that what we already have. People talk about Gomes' blunders, but Foster made quite a few when he was in a Watford shirt. I agree, we don't need him.

There's an African Nations Cup again next season, so we'll be without Assou-Ekotto for a month or so next winter. I'm unsure what the future is for Bale, will he return to teh level needed at Tottenham - is he a fullback or future midfielder? I could see us signing more cover at left back to be honest, and we've been linked already with a swede Ozcar Wendt, who can cover central defence as well giving us more options.

I'd like to see Chris Gunter out on loan to either a Championship or lower Premier League club for the entire season. Tom Huddlestone is also one I'd like to see loaned out, cause I dont think he's ready for us and I think he's way to promising to sell cheap(ish). In an ideal world we'd get someone like Mark van Bommel to give our midfield more experience, and loan out Huddlestone to an italian or spanish club for two years so that he's ready when MvB retires. I fear we'll see Huddlestone at anotehr Premier League club next season though :(

All in all I hope we dont sign too many players, we got a good squad and I think we actually signed most of what we needed in january. The key for us now is holding on to these players for 2-3 years and having them gel as a team.

And who do you suggest, realistically, we sign to replace him?

Dawson & Corluka can fight for that spot with the promising Dervitte & Rocha as back up. I also really like the look of Sheff Wed's young CB Beevers we could pick him up for less then 5m.

I don't understand why you want rid of King...

Anyway, is Newcastle's Jonas Gutierrez left-footed? I'm ask because he seems like a good player, IMO, and he could be an option for the left wing should Newcastle be relegated.

I like the look of jonas he'd be a good option whether the magpies go down or not I'm 90% they won't.

King cannot play 2 games in a week & can not train, If he was as good as Beckenbauer or Cannavaro my opinion would be the same. ledley is a great guy & a great player but he's approaching 30 & for me is stopping Dawson progressing. I would hate to see Daws (future Spurs captain) leave because lack of first team football & then in the same season King retiring because of his troublesome knee then were would that leave us.

Agree, I don't think they will go down, either. If Redknapp wants a LW, he could do a lot worse than 'Spiderman'. Better option than Stuart Downing, IMO.

Fair enough. I don't agree, but I respect your opinion.:thumb

Can't even contemplate King leaving.. he was superb today. Daws will get plenty of chances and is no doubt part of our future.

As for left sided.. I still think Bale can be the answer there. Not forgetting Gio and Taarabt will gain experience on loan..
as for actual signings. Gutierrez would be decent, there's someone else I'd like but the name has slipped my mind atm.
