@AVA Been to Budapest twice, the first time was with two other lads. We loved it, great nightlife, cheap beer, loads of fit women.
I use that for flights. Do you ever book a package? Have you (or any of you) use me teletextholidays website, please?
I've used Expedia before and it's okay. Generally you can get it more suited to your tastes if you do it all seperate.
I always use Expedia. Netflights can be OK but you have to phone to confirm the booking. I didn't think anyone booked packages anymore as it's always cheaper to do it yourself. I recently went into a travel agent to price up flights and a hotel for my trip to Cairns. They quoted me just over $3,000 all in for the two of us but when I did it myself it was around $700 cheaper..
I think long haul would always be cheaper doing it yourself and, maybe, where you live and traveling to works better DIY. I’m finding, say, Spain and the Canaries, Jet2holidays are pretty good as after adding luggage and transfers on with flight only and accommodation, it doesn’t work out much cheaper, if at all. I am a fan of DIY tho, as it’s much more interesting to put a trip together yourself.
Volare always used to do cracking Italian fish and meat dishes when I was up for away matches in the Conference or a visit to Goodison - but that was over 5 years ago. I think they're still going.
Has anyone done the Thailand gulf islands before? Debating whether flying directly to Samui is worth it, or we're better off saving the money and doing the train to Surat Thani, or flying to Krabi then ferrying it across to the islands.
I lived in Samui for a while and I strongly recommend flying if you can afford it. The train to Surat is overnight and takes eleven hours and it’s not great, then you have to bus to Donsak and then get the ferry. By the time you arrive in Samui you feel about as knackered as when you flew to BKK. If you do go make sure you go to Koh Tao, it’s stunning. If you’ve got time and go down to Krabi, go to Koh Lanta instead of Phuket, it’s almost unspoilt in a lot of areas and there’s not the hoards of Russians packing the beaches.
