Glad to see the truth has outed in the end and the people on here who where quick to jump on the bandwagon proved wrong
There's that word exonerated again ,its just a pity after Hillsborough it needed to be used more than f*cking once in relation to Liverpool fans ! I suppose what I find even more disappointing is the level of ignorance that still exists and is still clearly prevalent even on these boards. I suppose claiming you have a degree of empathy for the fans who perished on that fateful and shameful day or indeed the fans that experienced those scenes and were left to deal with the ignorance and mass consternation of a nation is one thing ,but seemingly its completely forgotten about when the opportunity to twist the knife arises ,maybe one day we will be afforded the benefit of the doubt ,but I wont be chancing holding my f*cking breath for that day to arrive.
Why, it's still news worthy eufa's investigation is still going on so let it run let's see if the members on here who where so quick to jump on the bandwagon to condemn Liverpool supporters have the decency to admit they were wrong, I won't be holding my breath though
Uefa pre-prepared Champions League final statement blaming ‘late’ fans Uefa’s statement apparently blaming Liverpool supporters for causing the delay to the start of the Champions League final in Paris was prepared a considerable time before the day of the match, the Guardian has learned. The statement, put up on the big screen at the Stade de France, announced that a delay to the scheduled 9pm kick-off of the final between Liverpool and Real Madrid had been caused by “late arrival of fans”. The statement incensed Liverpool supporters, thousands of whom were still stuck in chaotic queues outside the stadium despite having arrived three or more hours before 9pm. Approximately 15,000 Liverpool supporters had been held up in a dangerous, bottleneck queue at a perimeter ticket checkpoint, then denied access to the stadium at turnstiles closed by stewards and police. As shown on the Guardian’s visual investigation, Paris police had directed Liverpool supporters to a ticket checkpoint using an alternative route that had been a known hazard since 2016, which involved thousands of people being funnelled through a narrow subway under the A1 motorway. A risk of crushing developed in the queue there and at turnstiles that were closed for long periods. Many Liverpool supporters, who had paid up to £600 to Uefa for tickets, also suffered brutal riot policing, including pepper spray and teargas, and attacks by local French men. The statement blaming late arrival of fans was decided on in the planning stages of the match, as the one likely to be used in the event of kick-off having to be delayed, the Guardian understands. At the end of the match Uefa made a second statement, blaming “thousands of fans” at the Liverpool end with “fake tickets” for the kick-off delay.
Basically they had their minds set already and probably set the whole thing up to get Liverpool’s fans into trouble?
A shame it had to come to this, the authorities ruined numerous people's experience and I imagine many will be fearful to attend games on the continent anymore. Which flies against what UEFA should be promoting.
UEFA leaking findings of a report that is intensely critical of them just before a Merseyside derby hoping that it'll get lost in the shuffle. They can **** right off.
If the full report is as damning of UEFA and the French authorities as the media coverage so far implies, then there should only be one outcome. People in positions of power should be losing their jobs and the question of whether what went wrong that night amounts to criminal negligence should be fully considered. This appears to be the fullest possible vindication of Liverpool's fans and ought to serve as a reminder, not simply to football but to society at large, of the need to be more questioning of the agendas pedalled by those in authority.
Will UEFA ban themselves from games as would have happened to Liverpool or another set of fans if they'd caused a serious crowd incident?
Once again our fans have been exonerated after the smear campaign that was organised by the French government and believed by people who couldn't wait to twist the knife, on this forum and beyond (you know who you are) if you had any decency this is the time to admit you got it wrong and made fools of yourselves, mind you I won't be holding my breath
