I don't know if this has been said earlier in the thread (not read it all) but Wales are the Leicester City of International football. Not all the best players in the world but they have a game plan, organisation, togetherness, passion, belief and they are working their bollocks off for each other. Some of the overpaid English primal donnas should take a long hard look at them and try to learn from them. Best of luck Wales for the semi final
Watch and learn, England, watch and learn... I am probably repeating what has already been said but Wales have the passion and drive and that's what has got them to the semis, oh and goals, they can score goals... Well done to them and good luck
The morning after the night before. Never dreamt it then, it really did happen. Still stunned about what we have achieved. We beat one of the best teams on the planet when most wrote us off. It is brilliant proving people wrong.
Full credit to Wales, they showed pride, passion and no little skill. They were everything England weren't, with players being paid far less. Look at the difference between the two country's biggest stars. Bale never stops running, gees on his team-mates and looks absolutely delighted just to be there, let alone in the semi-finals. Rooney just pings balls from side to side, he doesn't get us going at all, and never looks gutted when we lose, he just mumbles the same old rubbish in interviews. Did I like the fact the Wales players cheered wildly when we went out? No. Then again, I didn't like losing to Iceland either.
Chuffed does not even come close. If anyone had predicted we would get this far back at the start i would have politely told them to stop being so f*cking stupid. Like England fondly remember Euro 96 by reaching the semi's i think it is fair to say we will live off this moment for a bloody long long time.
Fair dos. Stunning tournament on and off the pitch. Watch: Wales fans given guard of honour by Belgians after Euro 2016 win
It's about not putting square pegs in round holes. Rooney was never suited for that midfield position and he hasn't learned it. He hasn't got the skill set. England had Paul Scholes and played him on the wing. Misused Steven Gerrard in his prime. Wales have got a side that utilises the talents they have and fill the rest of the side out with solid pros.
So Wales are 90 minutes away from surpassing England's best ever Euro's performance. Portugal are definitely beatable aswell. Really hope they can do it.
I don't remember Scholes ever playing on the wing? I do recall him being used as a striker though, like when he hit a brace against Scotland
Hope Wales go all the way now tbh. They've had a brilliant tournament so far and the players have done their country proud.
Managed to get a ticket for this, and the memories of this game will be unforgetable. The emotion was a mix of pure elation and utter shock. I had faith in this team, but I can't believe what's happening. Sent from my SM-J500FN using Tapatalk
Interesting statistic after last night's match. Our win percentage in the history of the European Championships finals tournament stands at 80%, 4 wins from 5 games. The next highest is 55% by Germany. Of course there a plenty of teams that have played a lot more matches than us but still............top dogs
I must admit I wanted Belgium to win, but Wales won me over with a brilliant performance. Robson-Kanu had the game of his life! Feel a little sorry for Belgium as they have lost key defenders to injury and that really cost them. They ran out of ideas in the second half. I expect Wales to beat Portugal. They've been lucky to get this far. Seeing the reactions of the players and fans reminded me of when Bournemouth won promotion to the PL. Such raw emotion mixed with almost disbelief. Well done Wales.
Hodgson worst than Wilmots for me. Belgium to their credit, smashed 2 teams. We got nowhere near to beating anyone 3-0 and 4-0 like Belgium, the stuff of dreams depressingly that for us at the moment.
