Look at the play off contenders Barnet - Relegated 3 times and play at a Wedding Venue in front of nobody. Bromley - 'Millwall lite' funded by plastic. Awful away day and terrible away following Altrincham - A traditional non league club, good support and no drama for away fans when you go there with good booze options Solihull - A club with no ground soon, terrible home support and embarrassing away support Halifax - Died once already through lack of interest, now playing on a swamp So its Altrincham all the way for me, will be good to see them get promoted even though its one of my favourite away days The final needs to be moved to the Bescot
You were my preferred choice in the eliminator, we have a VERY good record at your ground and we made you look a very poor side on Boxing Day. Besides, Kosylo's inevitable red card would have smoothed our passage. Anyway, it's no matter, as the only REAL club left in, I'm already looking forward to resuming our historic rivalries back in the Football League.
This raises a good point about Solihull, haven’t they been given notice to quit their ground with no, as yet, viable alternative? How come they didn’t fall foul of the 10 year rule as Gateshead did?
Point of order, we died through lies told by Halifax Rugby League Club, who promised to invest the money from the sale of their own ground, to develop The Shay, which encouraged us to make commitments of our own to match said investment, and which would only pay off on completion of the upgrades. The rugby club knew all along that they owed it all to the taxman, indeed it was their survival plan- sell the ground, pay the tax debt and move into The Shay. It also explains why they were adamant that US sharing at THEIR ground was apparently out of the question. Oh and money that promised by ITV Digital, that was budgeted for (£1,000,000 I believe) never showed up either. And yes, failing to pay the taxman ourselves and not understanding that breaking a payment agreement would exponentially inflate that debt with interest and penalties didn't help. So, not so much "lack of interest", as being shafted and screwed over by our "room mates" and ITV Digital, and hammered by a pitiless Inland Revenue.
Nobody gets hammered by HMRC. you dont have tax arrears unless you've already had the money and chosen not to pay your tax (See Southend Utd FC), its not an overdraft facility
Yeah I get it, but it's a bit of a hollow victory when you've just bottled the playoffs spectacularly like you have.
Uggla does, that's what I meant about off the pitch. Not the fans, we're not bothered but I wonder if Hellier and Uggla will steer clear of each other?
Lack of interest. Wow. Every club that's gone out of business has died through lack of interest have they?
