Well done especially doing back to back against Leicester/Saints/Leeds Only been once in Fa cup years ago , good luck to them
Ipswich another fresher name to get up to break the monotony of the yo-yo clubs. Following Luton, Forest, and Brentford in successive seasons now.
Welcome back Ipswich! Glad there's an away ticket cap now 'cos last time I went to Portman Road I had to pay almost £40, and that was in the Championship about 12 years ago!
Yep. Will be great for 1 season if they stay up, then the reality will settle in and they'll get bored pretty quickly
Congrats Ipswich, been an amazing season for them and promotion is fully deserved. The journey is better than the destination.
Thank you chaps. Honestly I can't believe this has happened. If you told me in December 2021 at McKenna's first game we would be in the Premier League two full seasons later i'd have said you were insane. It's been a very long 22 years, 20 of which i've been a part of the forum. Been a some good Town fans along the way no longer posting. Shame they aren't here posting today thinking of Jez, MadIpswichFan and a few others. I have no doubt this is going to be a one year deal but i'm going to enjoy seeing us up against a few teams we haven't played since dropping out of the Prem all those years ago and locking horns against a few of our rivals from previous Championship seasons. Uppa Town
Welcome back Ipswich, as others have said it makes a nice change having someone back who isn't one of the same-old-same-old yo-yo clubs. Good luck to you!
You’ll stay up next season, even if you’re a ‘two season wonder’. There’s some real stagnant dogshit teams in this division.
Famous name. Remember the likes of John Wark and the legend that was Paul Mariner. Good to see them back after so long away. A generation of supporters who have never seen them mixing it with the big boys at the top table. Love it. Enjoy the ride starting in August.
Great to see a new side up, like everyone else was saying. Kieran McKenna is always spoken highly of from people at Spurs. I can't imagine Ipswich being worse than some of the bad teams in the league next year.
Going to be one hell of an effort. 9 of the 11 players who started for us today played for us in League One last season. I can't see us bringing in dozens of players so it will still be the core that McKenna trusts with a few additions.
Presumably Ipswich will stick to their guns and not spend loads so it'll be incredibly tough, but if they can add a few experienced heads (like Luton did) then I think they could surprise a few people like they did last time they came up. That George Burley team with the likes of Matt Holland, Martin Reuser, Marcus Stewart etc. was brilliant. McKenna is clearly very good at getting the best out of limited players but I think he'll know from his time in the Prem you have to have some proven quality at this level or you'll be getting turned over most weeks like Sheff and Burnley. Portman Road won't be an easy place to go either way. Looking forward to seeing what they can do.
