Congratulations mate - so chuffed for you guys, deserve some success after so long, and I’ve always liked Ipswich as a club that are similar to us in many ways (and rolling over for us on the final day to keep up up in 2016/17 was much appreciated too!). Enjoy the ride - I have no doubt you’ll make a good fist of it. I hope we survive to play you!
Well done! Loved the away games at PR in the championship, an Easter staple try not to think about VAR- Just enjoy the summer, and the play offs as smugly as you can
Made up for Ipswich even if it’s at our expense. Got some good mates that are Ipswich fans and they’re a proper club with a great history who’ve been out the top flight for way too long. Saying that it’s a poisoned chalice and the promised land is more like a corrupt cess pit once you get over the initial honeymoon period Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Blimey, wall to wall (relatively, it’s a low bar to be fair) ITFC in the media today. Will take some getting used to. Nice piece on Radio 5 this evening, unfortunately ruined by that bellend Sutton sticking his oar in. Also amusing to see Woolfenden taking the mick out of Don Goodman on Sky earlier. It’s going to be a long season
Haha, yes I’m sorry to say Sutton will give you his opinions and generally talk unresearched crap every week, for some reason he seems to get about! What a job you lads have done and I look forward to another trip up Portman Road next season.
Yes he was a total wind up merchant In real-life he's actually my best mate and nothing like the way he used to act on here. I'll let him know he's remembered... Actually on second thoughts maybe not he might come back.
That's excellent to be fair I had no real issues with him. Doesn't say alot though, I joined here when I was 13 and hadn't the foggiest what the **** was going on.
He doesn't like us much either, but it's been fun on the BBC predictions thing this year, winning when he's predicted us to lose Its often celeb supporters of clubs we used to play in the championship or League 1 that make snide remarks. Hey ho, comes with the territory
Clubs traditionally in the top flight of English football of course. It's nice for Brentford or Bournemouth for example to have their few years in the sun but it's always nice to see a proper club like Ipswich come up. We had lots of similar comments when we came up as I'm sure Wednesday or Sunderland would if they came back up.
By proper clubs do you mean clubs that live off past glories, cheat, complain that they got caught, moan about how unfair everything is and how it’s impossible to stay up while sticking in the rules? (little old not-proper Brentford managed it) By proper club do you mean one that claims ridiculous conspiracy theories about the league trying to get rid of the little guys and keep the established “proper” clubs in the league? (seems you don’t want to be seen as a proper club when it suits your narrative, and again, the Premier League don’t seem to have a problem with little old Brentford even if we might not be a “proper” club) By proper club do you mean a club that will vote to close the gate behind them and not give more money to the EFL, while all the while also constantly complain that everyone is trying to shut the gate on them? Oh, and by “a few years in the sun”, how many times have Forest finished above Brentford in the last decade? (I’ll save you looking it up, it’s just 1) Seems to me that being a “proper” club is overrated, or maybe it’s just that Forest haven’t acted like a proper club in a very, very long time.
Put it this way, our attendances aren't big by top flight standards but they're more than yours and Bournemouth's average combined. Forget the basket case behind the scenes, it makes no difference when when talking about size of club. Fair play to both you and Bournemouth, for clubs of your size you're punching well above your weight which nobody can deny but it definitely brings a nice sense of 'normal service resumed' when you see a club like Ipswich (or us) back in the top flight.
By "traditionally in the top flight" do you mean "in the top flight when I were a lad" by any chance? They had a spell in the first division from the late 60s to mid 80s, but you can hardly call them a traditional top flight team when they've spent ~75% of the time since ww2 outside of the top flight
Not getting involved in the size of clubs debate because we've been exactly where we deserved to be in the past 25 years but I think our period between 1962 and 1986 was a bit more than just a spell in the first division. A bit like saying Man City have been having a bit of a spell since 2009.
