The whole debate is pointless anyway, especially around promotion and relegation - too much old world thinking about.

Not only are clubs going to go to the wall, the spectacle will be shite until February with caps at 25/30% of capacity. Plod will also be a big factor, as 1, they won't have the manpower to be at the grounds and 2, clubs won't be able to afford the policing bill.

That's not even considering the supporters affording tickets when there will be mass redundancies.

If crowds are going to be 25 or 30 % of capacity, you are not going to need plod.....we dont use plod at swindon , we self steward, only when it's a local derby do we see plod inside the ground!

Stevenage thrown a lifeline as Macclesfield are charged by the FA yet again.

Macc not happy and will appeal. They say that all the new charges relate to the same issue of late payment of March wages that has already been dealt with. :shrug They would say that wouldn't they? The supposed quote from the findings looks a bit dodgy to me. Perhaps the bit I've bolded is the actual quote that they've built on.

"...The Club are deeply surprised by these charges, as the Arbitration Panel at our last hearing adjudicated the following after close examination of all the relevant evidence -

"...the Commission should make it clear that it does not consider MTFC's tardiness (yet again) to pay the players' renumeration for March on time necessarily requires a further charge. Given it's reasoning and conclusions as above, it would require strong persuasion to impose a yet further points deduction for any such breach..."

Silkmen Hit With Further EFL Charges

If I believed they were likely to survive and be competitive next season, I'd say "Go Silkmen," as I think they've been screwed enough compared with other clubs' treatment. However, they must be on a very dodgy finacial footing by now.

Basically, as I see it, the EFL are desperately trying to make an example of Macclesfield, but however low they set the bar for Stevenage to survive at Macc's cost, Stevenage manage to still limbo under it.

Macc's financial plight is the sole reason why I strongly believe that Stevenage should not be relegated. IMO, It's irrelevant that Boro have been poor this season while Macc weren't that bad on the pitch and only find themselves down there 'cos the owner is a clown.

I'm saying this even I though I like most others dislike Boro, but I won't let that cloud my judgement. And apparently, so did twenty League Two clubs out of twenty four when they voted for no relegation this year.

In other news, I hear the other place is down again. If I were the betting type I'd say that another migration is taking place right now. Not even birds migrate this much. I really haven't got a clue why some people (specifically the League Two and NL guys) don't want to post on this forum instead :confused

I think it's more than anyone who so much as mentions this forum gets banned, so loads of people have no idea this place exists.

Got to feel for Macc fans with the clown they've got in charge. There's no doubt they got up to the League despite him and not because of him.

Stevenage may well be the luckiest club since whoever it was who missed out on relegation in 1996 when they were stopped from coming up due to ground grading issues.

As for the playoffs - I note that we were the only club of the 4 not to have any players or staff test positive for Covid. Northampton's physio tested positive, two members of Exeter's staff/squad did and four at Colcehester.

Torquay though I'm not sure they'd say they 'missed out' on relegation

I’ll be surprised if there’s a ball kicked in anger in the EFL this season. It’s certainly unedifying watching certain clubs squeal and squirm as they either try and avoid relegation or get into POs.

I’m sure most fans would just settle for their club actually still being around for whenever next season starts.

I suspect Macclesfield won't last till next season sadly for them.

I actually only got banned for a week but that was enough to convince me never to go back as that way I never have to read any bullshit from Tractor Boys ever again.
All I did was reply to an Exeter fan who was asking about this place too so Tractor Boys can shove that place up his ****ing arse.

I’m definitely in this boat. We had to release some very good players (relatively speaking) and now we’ve asked all the ones still under contract to take a pay cut as we’re really feeling the pinch.
One positive I see for us though is that if most clubs are in the same boat and pretty much all have to build new teams, with Holloway in charge I think we’ll be able to attract some very good players for this level and certainly much better ones than we sign most Summers.

What I don’t understand, especially with my club, is that players OOC - including all the ‘big’ earners - have all been offered new contracts. We must be in the same boat as every other bottom feeder. Maybe their contracts are less than they were on and are better than trying to find a new club offering more - good luck with that. I honestly thought we’d bin all those OOC purely for financial reasons whereas we’ve only let 4 youths go.

He was also reading PMs when I was under the impression that the P in PM stood for 'Private' :fail:

I do think that people have heard about this place by now however, and it's only the inactivity on the lower league forums that's keeping them from posting on here. Well somebody's got to take the plunge......I'm tempted to start a couple of threads on the NL forum and see if it works. Now let's see, what makes for a good topic as far as the NL'ers are concerned? A proper vs hobby club debate perhaps? What about the brotherho....oops!

Anyway, back to the footy. I haven't yet decided on who I'll be rooting for in the play offs. The Cobblers are a decent side but there's no way I'd want them up. Same goes for Col U. So it's between Cheltenham and Exeter: the former have had a great year and do deserve to go up but otoh I'm a fan of the way that Exeter play the game.
