in the 1st and 2nd divisions. We keep on hearing about a climate crisis,so this would save electricity used for the floodlights during the winter months. I would prefer to start my journey in darkness (if I drove) and coming home with at least two hours of daylight available This would also mean that more longer journeys(if you can afford it) could be made by public transport i.e. the train.
No. Everyone kick off at 3pm including premiershite teams. Saving energy for this apparent climate crisis is a joke when we account for less than 1% global emissions with countries like China and India doing what they are, yet we need to inconvenience ourselves for a literal 0 benefit. Next question
Not really an answer but big matches in my country often start sometime between 8pm and 12 midnight (local time obviously) I actually have no idea why.
Not for me , though I am a bit of a traditionalist . I found Blackpool 12.30 kick off last game last season weird , had to rush about a bit .
Early kick offs are a nightmare for away fans when facing a long distance journey so this seems a very bad idea.
No it doesn’t. It means people will have to leave their homes well before the first trains so more people will be on the road.
Totally agree . The idiots from Sky & EFL put Bournemouth away at Middlesbrough in a 12.30 kick off this season & fair play , I think around 600 still turned up but people were having to get up at super silly o'clock to go . In cases where there has been a history of trouble or local matches I kind of get it , people far more sober at 12.30 than 3 .
Non league clubs consider kicking off games earlier in bid to stave off huge energy bills - Fan Banter
I’ve heard talk of meetings taking place for all clubs to do this. If it stops clubs going bust it has to be a consideration.
It's a no from me, hate early kick offs, it kills the atmosphere, one reason i am glad Derby are in the third tier is the 3pm kick offs, love it, feels like football for the fans is back, not football for commercial reasons, by that i mean the sky football fan.
Just spotted this in our local newspaper. https://www.shropshirestar.com/spor...a-cup-hold-appeal-amid-cost-of-living-crisis/ Lunchtime kick-offs for weekend league and FA Cup matches would be considered by clubs in the EFL and the wider football pyramid to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, a new survey has found. Sixty-three per cent of 40 clubs – including 12 EFL teams – surveyed by football reform group Fair Game over the last fortnight said they would consider earlier kick-offs to help reduce energy bills as the hours of daylight diminish, if they were given permission.
Wasn’t a fan of earlier kick offs, I’m still not. But if doing it gets clubs through the current crisis then we need to do it. Worrying times.
DMac our el presidente said on Wednesday's Hard Truth Podcast that he was 50/50 on it regarding the financial benefits of it , if a saving on match day of say £5k with electric etc... usurp the amount of lost revenue from home & away fans with the early starts . Sounds like a couple of guinea pig clubs from Div 1 & 2 are needed .
Yes because it would be 1930 in my country, the games will end latest 2135 so I will be able to see the results before I sleep.
