If you look at the bigger picture though @Panja it wouldn't help pubs & eateries in local areas some who make their fortnightly wonga on a decent away following emptying their wallets & bladders with say 12 o'clock kick offs & folks going straight home afterwards .
Agreed, but if those pubs and eateries are near a ground where the club has just gone bust they’re not going to get any business are they?
It makes some level of sense at lower levels where clubs are split geographically. Less distance for away fans to travel, smaller amounts of fans & they can keep the bars open afterwards to recoup any lost pre-match revenue. The thought of a couple of thousand Wednesday fans trying to get down to Exeter for 13 o’clock is mental though.
They did a estimated survey post Covid when we got promoted to the Championship & that the City's economy in the Championship is boosted by an estimated £7-8million whereas in League 1 £2.5-3.5 million so away fans contribute a fair bit of cash & most after a match wanna get back home . Was chatting with Vale fans after the match yesterday who were wondering why they had to sit in rickety 1950's seats & rather the newish stand , once again keeping one stand closed if not needed saves cash on policing , stewards , caterers , cleaners as well as electric etc... Morecambe did the same yesterday , Swindon & Bradford do it a fair bit , makes sense .
EFL clubs to discuss cost of living crisis and fan-led review on Thursday EFL clubs to discuss cost of living crisis on Thursday
Shit decision to kick off early, need 3 o'clock kick offs, more time in boozer, hate 12 oclock kick offs, always a shit atmosphere in the stadiums ,especially at the city ground Notts.
Very well thanks pal, hope both our clubs can push on and make the play offs, and Notts to go down, and England to win the world cup, well i suppose 3 out of 4 ain't bad lol. England will deffo not win the world cup. But we can all dream.
If they lift the 3 o'clock blackout on Prem games then this would be a worthwhile endeavour, but for climate crisis reasons? Nah. Non-league clubs doing it to save money on energy bills I understand.
