I was intending to upgrade the SSD to a 1TB as the 256 was filling up with crap, at one point only 3GB free. I ordered an M.2 SSD but when it came it was physically the wrong size, so I sent it back. It seems the size of drive I need might only be available from Dell. Anyway I've done some housekeeping, stopped d/loads and other rubbish going to the C drive and I'm trying to keep it for the OS and Utilities, so currently I'm back up to 77GB free which isn't too bad. I'd still prefer to at least double the SSD size though.
I upgraded my Ram to 32gb. Absolutely not needed but was on offer. FM 21 basically plays itself now. Hard drive should have been my priority, but decent size SSD's ain't cheap.
I might upgrade the RAM to 16GB, but to be honest I haven't had any issue with the 8GB already fitted, it runs Red Dead II no problem for instance. It's annoying that it has 2 x 4GB sticks so I'll have to change both, probably about £60. The wrong 1TB SSD I bought was only £90 for a Western Digital, but a 512GB from Dell is £143 .
I have a G7 so being the same series i guess ill also need to buy direct. Not worth it for me currently at those prices.
I should have opened up the case and removed the copper heatsink to get the info off the existing SSD rather than using the Crucial System Scanner to wrongly tell me what to buy. Might be worth you having a peek, if only because you might find a cheaper source than me. I'll be calling into Scan Computers when they are open to the public again to see what they advise.
yeah you want to watch the dells in terms of what is actually allowed in each slot. they can be odd about the upgrades
Finally purchased a new monitor, well overdue, my iiyama Prolite is very tired these days. MSI Optix G271 27 Inch 144Hz FHD Gaming Monitor, £159.
