How many do you realistically expect to see playing for Chelsea in the future? I genuinely hope they do go and kick on to make it at the top level but you'd expect Chelsea to be back up there next season, splashing the cash in the summer on experience. As good as your record is at youth level it almost makes it irrelevant when even this season chances have been so limited. If you're not going to chuck them in during a nothing season what's the point? I'd be surprised if there's many playing for Chelsea in a few years time.
I think this season has shown how tough it really is for anyone to break through. We've literally had nothing to play for and there's still been no chances given. There's nothing more they can do at youth level to show they deserve a chance so I don't know what's next for us. The youth set up is waste of time for us.
Today both Lucas Piazon and Michael Hector's loans have finished. Strange when there's still games to go but our season is over and they weren't going to play much.
28/1/17. Chelsea 4 v Brentford 0. The young players did well, but let's be honest only two are ready for regular first team football, namely Zouma and Ake. Chalobah played well but gave the ball away too much early on, and Loftus Cheek still doesn't get stuck in enough and missed his chances. His shots were always too high or the perfect height for the keeper. When he loses the ball, there's no fight to get it back. Batshuayi? Not bad, but can not play as a lone striker and is very poor when through on goal, one on one. Worth £15 million at most at the moment. Verdict? Loftus Cheek looks a bit arrogant to me and should be loaned out next season. It will be a reality check for him re' effort and work rate. Definitely not ready for the first team now. Batshuayi. Not even close to being back up for Costa. Loan him out now. Bring in Llorente from Swansea. The club have been very fortunate with injuries, and all it takes is four or five injuries to key players, and the winning streaks could quickly become draws or even losses. When young players are developing they should be looking at the successful Chelsea players and copying the good principals. Lampard always kept his shots low and in the corners, Matic is all over the pitch trying to get the ball back, etc, etc. Drogba and Costa was / is rarely stationery and pulls out wide and deep if being marked too tightly. There's no excuse for young players who constantly fail in the basics. A bit harsh but that's reality if you want to win the big trophies.
We've got Tomori on loan from you lot, this kid has a future for sure. He's been thrown into some rough situations and has been unlucky to score an OG and give away a penalty, but he's proving himself to be a very capable player. He's also demonstrated a great attitude and last night he accompanied our captain, Bruno, on a lap of the pitch to clap the fans. Good lad.
I would like him to have a season on loan in premier league first, to see how he does. He has done incredibly well in championship but I feel the step up from Bristol to Chelsea first team is too great.
Not surprised to see Kenedy performing better now he’s actually being played in his correct position. Madness we tried to convert him to a LWB.
What do you all think? The club's policy of buying outstanding young prospects before they become unaffordable was a massive success. Lukaku, £18 million paid for an 18 year old. Now worth £100 million. De Bruyne £7 million paid to Genk. Now worth £100 million +. Sala, bought for £12 million, now apparently worth over £140 million. That's a profit of almost £300 million. Only problem? That legend Mourhino sold them all on. I was a lone voice practically that said Rafa should have stayed and not to bring Mourhino back.
Lukaku was sold for 28 so 10 m profit. De bruyne was sold for 18 so 11m profit. Salah was sold for 15? So 4m profit. That's 25 million profit not 300 million
Plenty of ability give them opportunies instead of spending so much money on imports that fail. We will have no other choice soon, #ffp rules
Reece James, Ampadu, CHO, Mason Mount. All of these guys could become class players. If if clicks with Lampard we could be set for years with the core of a great team.
