I love a drink...appears my daughter loves it more and we’re now picking up the pieces. Barstard stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was sick all over my parents bathroom when I stumbled home at 2am the other night then proceeded to strip off, leave my clothes in the sick and pass out in bed until my Dad came flying in my room at 6am ready to slap me about unless I went to clean up my mess. Yes, alcohol is a bastard.
It’s one of the strongest, must dangerous drugs available. Far worse than many class A’s. Unfortunately because it’s legal, most people are completely ignorant and 100% hypocritical when it comes to alcohol. Most violent crimes and domestic abuse are carried out under the influence. Many murders as well. All of this seems to get a pass or is blamed on something else. I don’t think it should be banned but the level of nievity around drinking is fckin frightening I grew up in pubs and worked the door in younger years. I’ve been around it almost all of my life and seen the dark side of it far more than most. It can be a vile, nasty drug that is socially far more damaging than any illegal drug you can get.
Sad to say, it’s my vice. It’s easily accessible and cheap as chips. I’m going to seriously try and kerb it.
Each to their own,i enjoy alcohol and was drinking too much which i found out after having a stroke which scared the crap out of me. I only drink twice a week now on a Sunday and one day in the week, ilove a nights sleep without booze and waking up alert in the morning ready for the day ahead.
Excellent news mate, sounds like you are enjoying other things beside it now so it isn't the hook it once maybe was for you. We all start off getting drunk as kids and into our twenties and thirties going out with our mates; but I think there then comes a time when you have to ask what you are drinking for and then whether to curb it a bit, give it up altogether, or ignore and go down a potentially dangerous path. Both my parents were alcoholics and I've seen the damage it causes. One of the parents got out, the other was dry for 20-odd years regularly attending AA before starting the bottle again and it cost them in the end. On my part, I try to have a different relationship with it now, and only drink my malts for smell and taste, and trying to work out what my senses detect in them. I limit myself to between 2-4 drams a season a couple of times a week, and that does me. Sometimes though I do go ott like last week when I was finishing a bottle and there was more in it than I thought there was! I then try and stay up to sober up as I hate the restless 'sleep' you get after getting drunk. I suppose I'm fortunate I haven't picked up my parents gene for alcoholism, but I constantly keep myself aware of its destructive capabilities.
Alcohol can be so very damaging. Watching my brother die at the age of 40 from multiple organ failure when his kidneys and liver failed in large part as a result of his heavy drinking scared the shit out of me and devastated me. I still do enjoy a drunk, but my relationship with alcohol is very different these days xx
These days I don't drink if I'm working the day after, so just Friday night and Saturday night usually. Even then I only have a couple, can't remember the last time I got sh*tfaced.
Given its bank holiday, I got myself 8 500ml bottles of Original Guinness. I'm 5 in and already I'm worse for where. I'll not be able to lift my head off of the pillow tomorrow if I do all 8. I'm getting old.
Used to drink quite a lot in my late teens but having lost a friend and watched what it did to my uncle I’ve hardly touched a drop in years.
Had a cousin who recently (well, over a year ago now actually) died due to drink and seen my best friend die in his 30s, although not directly alcohol related (he had a heart attack) he was a pretty heavy drinker at times, which more than likely did most the damage, although to be fair he was a smoker, ate poorly and was an angry-head. Also a couple of lads/old mates from years back that I had lost touch with, have died from alcohol. Not a big drinker in the house (unless at/having parties) but like a good bevvy when I go out, but these days this isn't very often.
"More damaging than an drug you can get" You for real Some people can't handle there drink But I like a drink and some of the best nights out wouldn't happen if we all drank lemonade Smoking and bad diet would be the major cause well ahead of drink
I just stopped drinking it after a period of time deciding that I didn’t want to do it any more. I’m more exciting than you could hope to be. X
I think alcohol is great if you've had a shitty day or something aswell It's great for chilling you out and helping you relax if I've been pissed off about summat
