First time in a while I’m going tonight. Hate these late kicks offs midweek but I’m off work today so thought why not.

Looks like it will be a rotated side for us tonight. With the amount of games we have I wouldn’t be too disappointed if that’s the case. Players looked a bit gassed after two tough games last week, so it’s a decent plan to get some minutes into the squad players and give the core a night off.

Think we'll rotate a little while still going strong enough - players coming back from injuries, those who have come off the bench a lot, etc.

Hopefully that's enough. Massive chance of a decent run at this if we navigate tonight

Liverpool at home tonight. Last time they came to town we won and Salah hoofed a penalty into the river Stour. Not sure we'll get great odds on a repeat, but we could really use at least a decent performance to build on the weekend's win. Wait and see what sort of teams get picked.

West Ham away for us. Tough draw. Not sure what scope they have for rotating but they are in the same schedule as us for games so maybe they'll treat this competition with a little disregard.

    I'd do the following:

    Ramsdale
    Cedric Tomiyasu Kiwior Zinchenko
    Jorginho Elneny
    Havertz F.Vieira ESR
    Trossard

Just all the rotation and movement in that front four.

Not sure what to expect tonight. Will probably be pretty similar to the side from Thursday against Toulouse. Doak and Diaz being out is obviously not too handy as means 2 of the forwards will have to start again tonight. I'd side with benching Jota since he started on Thursday too.

Result wise we shall see. Expect a far more fluid performance than the one last season in the league, but will 100% concede. So a question of how up for it the forwards are.

    Kelleher
    Gomez Matip Quansah Chambers
    Elliott Endo Jones
    Salah Gakpo Nunez

Expecting rotation of players, although don't have much choice in the Center back roles because of injury. Expecting 5-6 changes from the 1st choice team, but Tosin, Diop, still out injured and Tete not yet ready, so hoping Castagne wasn't badly injured against Brighton.

It's going to be a wet and windy night, so anything can happen, still expecting a tough game, could go to penalties.

Love see Newcastle rock up at old Trafford and smash em but can see United pulling out a lucky win

Didn’t expect to see Salah or Szobo start! Strong line up. Nice to see Quansah start.

Suspect it'll be Jones playing as the left forward, but all should be pretty fluid. Not too surprised to see likes of Salah and Szoboszlai - Liverpool kinda needed to give Jota and Nunez a rest as Jota started previous 3 and Nunez previous 2 having returned with a knock from the break.

Ultimately Liverpool can/should afford this competition more seriousness as EL is already more or less boxed off without any bother. If they finish top of their group they won't even play in Europe again until after this competition finishes.

3-4 changes here but a perfectly reasonable lineup that doesn't look too far out of place. Glad we're giving it a vague go. Man City on Saturday can wait.

That Liverpool bench looks interesting.... should they need it!

We’ve rested a couple of players inc jwp. Still got a pretty good team out (relatively speaking).

no rice in the starting line up? He’ll definitely come on and I would expect/hope he’ll get a really reception. He’s bound to score though

Yeah he’s played all but one game this season so was always going to get a rest here.

Feel West Ham are closer to full strength than we are.

Kluivert well offside there lol. Good thing Kelleher dealt with it as the official didn't have a clue.

Bournemouth no mugs so far. Both sides finding chances now but finishing not there. Conditions not helping much, but a decent enough contest so far.

And with that, a scruffy goal puts Liverpool up. Gakpo!

West Ham - 0 shots. 1-0 up

We’ve not played that badly but the best we’ve mustered are half chances. West Ham doing their thing and making life difficult.
