Didn't realise there were another 2 games. Can we make it 5-0? Sounds a bit fortunate this one but good for confidence and morale though.
How the game has changed. It was only 30 years ago that the Nat West final at Lords was 60 overs per side and 280 was deemed a decent score..
Sure you'll remember this final. I'll bet some Sussex fans still wonder how they made 320-odd and lost. SUSS vs WARKS Cricket Scorecard, Final at London, September 04, 1993
Was a weird game yesterday. Our batters (Tilak & Sanju) were hitting balls for fun, & then God knows what happened to the pitch. It turned Arshdeep into prime Wasim Akram. I am not exaggerating. He was unplayable. Even Hardik's slow mediums were difficult to face. I thought the second T20, which was a low scoring game, was much more fun, despite the defeat. On a side note, Jansen has done himself real good in this series. The big auction is on 24-25th November, & as an all rounder he is going to fetch millions.
I was at the game. When we went 18-2 in reply me and my mate seriously considered driving back to Brum, but that partnership between Dermot Reeve and Asif Din was a thing of beauty. That last over when we needed 15 to win and Franklin was bowling in near darkness was Incredible, we couldn't see where the ball was going so I've no idea how the batsmen were picking it.
Saw highlights of the Australia v Pakistan T20 game. Some typically dodgy fielding in terms of dropped catching by the latter.
England lose the toss in the fourth instalment of the T20 series and are invited to set a target for a change. Phil Salt scores his usual 50+ before getting out and Will Jacks promises much but delivers little again. Currently scoring at 11 an over with Jos and Jake at the crease, 123-2 after a dozen.
Great score by England and another superb knock from Jacob Bethel, who hit 62 from 32 balls to keep the ten an over momentum going. England went from 150 to 200 in the blink of a West Indian eye and if the Windies are to prevent going 4-0 down they'll have to beat the best chase on this ground..
Ouch! John Turner on dayboo for England has just been smacked for 25 off his second over after his first six balls went for just five runs. Hide him on the boundary, Jos..
This is brutal from the Windies. The ton comes up in the eighth over and Liam's first six balls go for 30, including one six that ain't coming back..
Unbelievable hitting from the Windy openers, plundering over 130 runs off the first one overs, they actually hit 53 off two overs before wickets started falling..
Was it a very good batting wicket or particularly brutal hitting ? Still pegged then back but not enough.
Fifth T20 got rained off so a 3-1 win in the end for Jos and the boys. I think the weather was being kind to John Turner because after his horror show in game four his two overs in the washout cost 22 runs. He'll no doubt recover from this but it was a baptism of Caribbean fire in these two games..
The first of five tests between Australia and India starts in a few hours in Perth. I've been really looking forward to this series as the Indians have had the upper hand in the last four rubbers and this may be the end of the line for some of the visiting team (yes, I'm looking at you Virat and Rohit) so they'll want to perform well. Kohli in particular has had a terrible three years leading up to this and he'll have to turn it round spectacularly if he's going to get his average anywhere near the 50+ that he's had during his career. It's almost as big as the Ashes for me, this. Boxing day can't come quickly enough (well, it can, but you know what I mean)..
Rohit is missing the first Test for his new baby. Bumrah to captain the side. Quite a few others missing as well with injuries. Very interested to see how Jaiswal does in this series. Personally think Shami will be a huge miss. He has just come back after a year long injury issue. Early prediction 3-1 to the Aussies.
The good news for Australia (in my opinion at least) is that David Warner has made himself available after retiring last year and the Baggy green management have said no thank you. I do not want to see that bloke anywhere near a cricket field ever again..
