Cracking day yesterday in brutal conditions, took my daughter to her first away game as the lad couldn’t make it. Totally different day out lol, drove up had a Maccies then went the local social club, watched the game stone cold sober, odd :dunce:

Went down the ground early and had a wander round, I do like Barnsley for various reasons, if there’s such thing as a second club then they would be mine, good club, good people.

Proper league one battle, think they can count themselves unlucky to take nothing from the game, the weather and the conditions were a great leveller.

Back in our local boozer by 7.15, thawing out and drying off!!!

We're at home to Bristol Rovers tomorrow, it's another sell-out, support this season has been phenomenal..

Away at Shrewsbury tomorrow which will be weird seeing Ainsworth as the opposition manager after being at Wycombe for 11 years, him,Dobbo and Bloomfield are good mates and many of our players were signed by Ainsworth so it should be an emotional day off the pitch but hopefully not on it and we grab a win.

A first & most probably a last for me tomorrow with the news that the club will be raising prices from next season as I've never seen Posh v Crawley live .

What will probably happen , Posh will remain without a clean sheet in the league , they'll gift the opposition some easy goals whilst failing to adhere to some basic defending , they'll tear Crawley a new one with some scintillating football & then miss some absolute sitters in the process & they'll be lots of empty seats as I imagine some of the STH's will stay at home or go Crimbo shopping or maybe even make a visit to the club's new ' super store ' where they're hoping an increase in turnover for merchandise will in the long term be beneficial for the clubs spending abilities , good luck with that , people in P'boro a minimum wage city are saving their pennies not that a Florida based multi millionaire would understand this .

Only around 13-15k home support for you in the Championship last few seasons , loads of " new glory hunters " ?

All clubs have them , around 22,500 Posh fans turned up at Wembley & around 15,000 Wycombe fans for Tinpot Trophy Final last season , where have all those ' missing ' fans been this season at London Road & or even more so at top of the league Adams Park ?

Is it glory hunting to start supporting a team following relegation to the third tier for the first time in 30 years?

Peterborough are still getting bigger attendances than what they were getting 20 years ago. Around the 2000 to 2005 period they were getting 4k at home and taking 300 away now these attendances are 3000 more.I could be wrong but I think the attendances rose when you had George Boyd and Aaron McLean banging goals in for fun.

No , glory hunting is when folk turn up when the club is doing well & let's face it , you shouldn't be anywhere near this League even with the current ownership set up who in all their wisdom ( not ) sacked ex player & manager John Eustace ( who's doing a fantastic job on a shoestring at Blackburn for Rooney .

Sometimes in life you get what you deserve !

If you don't get promotion this season similar to all the other bigger fan base clubs we've had in this division your home support will drop off , not your away support which always has been & always will be one of the best in all the divisions , imo .
We were only getting 4-4.5k home support end of last decade , bizarrely enough , the big bunny mascot & ex player who do excellent local community stuff around the schools have got loads of youngsters following Posh who if a family of 4 go & kids are under 12 still represents decent value & another thing , we don't do many 0-0's :D

For today's match , see all the above !

If you're a neutral you'd have loved the game at London Road today , a defensive masterclass from both teams trying to outdo each other for utter shiteness , see ITV4 for the calamitous defending by Posh for Crawley's 1st & 3rd goals but credit to them & their small band of fans who must be gutted not to take at least a point back home with them back to Sussex as they absolutely battered Posh for large periods of the match & if they didn't try & emulate Wenger's Arsenal trying to score the perfect goal then they should have .

As for Posh , a couple of positives , minutes in Hector Kyprianou's legs & a goal & then man of the match by a mile Cian Hayes , scored 2 , has electric pace , goes inside defenders , goes outside defenders he's gonna be a great replacement when Kwame Poku goes in the summer .

The Posh negatives , blimey , the whole back 4 especially our academy right back James Donnelly , shouldn't be anywhere near 1st team football neither our GK Bilokapic , absolute garbage again from him , thankfully Jed Steer is nearly back from injury & last but no mean least , Darren Ferguson , absolutely clueless today with the lack of balance in the backline & as usual , way too late with his substitutions .

Next up for me , Mansfield at home on Boxing Day , hope the fat lad in goal for them is fit to play ;)

Well that was easier than expected against Gareth Ainsworths's team,17 games unbeaten, the most goals scored and top of the League i'm not used to this as a Wycombe fan of 50 years.

Half the ground was closed for two seasons but the main reason for the fall off in attendances were the owners.

It’s one of the reasons why our away supporter went from strength to strength whilst home attendances fell.

Blues, have always had big potential trying to make us seem like a Coventry for example won’t work. We have a history of pulling in big numbers when the owners show us ambition.

I didn't know until my cousin rang me earlier to tell me Wycombe have now scored 100 goals in 2024 which is some record.:clap:

Tomorrow is 2 annual things firstly , ' Black Eye Friday ' when pubs , clubs & eateries will be full of early Xmas revellers some , not all dipping into their last monthly pay for 5 weeks & where they'll be verbal threats , loads of fighting & rivers of vomit & that's just the women folk .

Then there's number 2 which the AA call , gridlock Friday , the busiest forecast day on UK roads which will see Champagne Socialists & Tories packing their Harrods presents & Fortnum & Mason hampers into their Chelsea Tractors to head off to their 2nd homes , they'll be the ECO crew patiently waiting to top up their batteries I their EV's & the commoners, families of 6 in their Fiat Uno's also on the move , they'll be minor prangs , some serious prangs , loadsa road rage with the AA , RAC & maybe even the R.A.F called into to help & in the midst of all this carnage the EFL have decided that fans from

Derby , Huddersfield , Bolton , Peterborough , Cheltenham & the ones I have the most sympathy with Col.U have to travel to watch their teams play on a Friday night , absolutely bonkers , as is Bluenoses having to get back to Small Heath at gone 10pm on Monday night :enditall

Thankfully Cambridge is just over an hour away for me, we've still sold out the away end which is pretty good considering. Hopefully get the 3 points but we're quite threadbare for tonight and I imagine Gary Monkhouse will have his players well up for it as he hates us.

Bolton at home tonight for us which will be difficult as we'll be missing a left back and our 2 best midfielders. :smackhead

Good luck , hope you smash em , but I reckon a draw .

What's a sell out nowadays at The Shabbey now away fans are put down the side & not 50 feet away from the pitch behind the goal ?

As for Posh , we need to stop the rot away from home as we've lost the last 5 in the league away from home , think we'll score tonight but Stockport are good home team who I tipped top 6 in the Up / Down / Play Off thread & imo have the most talented player in this League in Louis Barry who'll waltz through our defence tonight , saying that , i reckon Barry from EastEnders would waltz through Posh's defence the worst I've seen in 50+ years , comfortable home win incoming with the away support ( be surprised if more than 500 ) cheering at least 1 goal .

Wycombe fail to score a goal for the first time since no one can remember and two points dropped means Blues are in a handy position just two points adrift with games in hand. Our next two games are against teams in the trapdoor but it would be soooo Blues to drop points against Creepy and Burton.

I watched the Wycombe vs Bolton game, it was a tough watch. Both teams had their moments but the home side edged it imo.

Huddersfield look a tad menacing for anyone looking behind them. I think all the sides above them will be watching their every move thinking can they match the unbeaten runs of Wycombe for example.

Wycombe remain my favourite for automatic promotion.
