Rafa got some things wrong in his time and we're allowed to point them out, that's part of being a fan! However, we can never, ever say he didn't act in the best interests of Liverpool Football Club at all times. He took us to his heart as much as we did him. There was a man who 'got it'. Thank you Rafael Benitez. Very well put
Carragher gets a hard time of it on here, but I liked this interview with him: Liverpool's veteran defender Jamie Carragher is determined to enjoy every minute of the rest of his career
I wasn't expecting much when Adam came in the summer but I hhave to say I've been hugely surprised with his contributions. Glad everything seems to be working for him on and off the pitch
Team vs the rent boys Reina Kelly Carra Coates Robinson Maxi Spearing Henderson Aurelio Bellamy(If not, Kuyt) Carroll.
I was thinking about this whilst freezing my bollocks off at half time vs City. I was trying to think about possible 'kids' to throw in against Chelsea with some of the guys sitting around me when it occurred to me that we have plenty of decent players to make up a fairly decent 2nd XI. However, Kenny seems to be taking the League Cup seriously this year and while I don't think he'll risk many of the 'first-name-on-the-team-sheet' players (Lucas, Suarez, Agger) I can't see Robinson playing LB. I'd forgotten about Aurelio but I'd play him at left back and probably go with Bellamy (if he's alright to play) on the left and have Carroll leading the line with Kuyt. saying that, Suarez seems up for any game and game somehow get up for a game after flying to Montevideo and back! Sooner or later I'd love to see Sterling, Coady, Morgan given a go but Chelsea away is a bit of a baptism of fire. Let's just hope we get a non-league team in the FA Cup, remember how easy Havant and Waterlooville were?
I Think we'll pay... ------------Reina----------------- Kelly-----Carra---Skrtel-----Enrique -----------Spearing----------- -----Henderson---Aurellio----- Maxi---------------------Bellamy ----------Carroll-----------------
In spite of only a one day gap, and Dalglish's comments from a few weeks back, I do think he'll field a strong line up. Suarez has played in every round so far, and I suppose it's up to Dalglish to make the judgment, but Suarez will be desperate to play and Dalglish would love to be able to pick him. Agger may be rested to keep him fit, Johnson could have a game off to give Kelly a go, which wouldn't significantly weaken the team, but I really can't see that many changes. A similar team to the last round vs Stoke I think. It helps that he can bring in Maxi and possibly Bellamy, knowing they played so well against the same opposition only a week ago.
Funniest moment at a match. Night game in 67/68 season or the next, it was foggy and in those days if the ref could see both goals from the halfway line the game was played. like I said it was foggy and at one part in the game the play was at the Annie Road end and all of a sudden Annie Road were screaming goal, but we never saw it. the kop being the Kop sang "Eey I addio who scored the goal" Sung from the Annie Road end came the words "Tony Hately" And the Kop replied with words from the tune Aintree iron "Thank you very much for naming the scorer, thank you very much, thank you very, very much, brilliant. Can't remember who we played, anyone know?
Did anyone see that disgusting little cheat Luka Modric con the referee against Stoke today? It's not the first time either. Not only that, he has shown every desire to go to the rent-boys and is very probably a horrible racist. I'm basing that on having seen him say something to Ryan Shotton when they shook hands at the end. Lip readers will say it was "well played" but I have my doubts and plan on watching/editing video evidence then complaining to the FA. I'm thoroughly offended. I'm going to vilify him every time I see him and when he comes to Anfield I'm going to tell my 5 year old nephew that "he's the cheating c*nt" and hopefully get Modric to flip me off when I shout something obscene about his mothers anus. The world will see him for what he really is and I'm going to go on This Morning and cry on TV about how offended I was. That'll show him. May the smear begin.............. Sorry about that, just thought I'd see what it was like to have my head well and truly up my arse. Turns out it wasn't very good. I think Modric is a cracking player and cheated like most of them do. Fortunately he plays for the 'in' team at the moment and nothing will be said. Hypothetically I'd love to see what the reaction would have been if Suarez had done that.
Spot on though, if that dive was made by Suarez he'd be facing his third FA charge in as many weeks tomorrow...****ing ridiculous.
Mine would have to be from about 1998/2000. We were playing Nottingham Forest and where my season ticket seats me 3 rows up in the lower centenary so very close to pitch level about halfway between the Kop End and the halfway line. It's a great spec. Anyway, Steve Stone was about to take a free kick right in front of us. Stone had broken his leg three of four times in his career which was unfortunate as he was a tidy player. Anyway, just as he's running up to take the free kick somebody shouts "break a leg Steve!" from somewhere behind me and everybody around me including Steve Stone fell about laughing and he even came and shook the guys hand and said "well done". Steve Stone went up massively in my estimation for taking it on the chin and having a laugh. There's always a few players who were game for a laugh who we actually looked forward to coming. Steve Stone, Robbie Savage and Paul Gascoigne always gave as much as they took and they were liked for it. Special mention to referees Phil Dowd and Mark Halsey who always have good banter. I thought back to this when Suarez gave the finger to some part-time Chelsea fan at Craven Cottage the other day. As a fan I accept that I have to take as much as I give and while I'm never nasty to opposition players and normally resort to mickey taking and humour, if one of them turned around and told them what they think of me (including giving me the finger) I'd probably think more of them than pretend to take offence.
I've had too many bevvies but this video made me emotional. John Barnes. What a player. That 86-90 side was incredible. One of the greatest club sides ever. Please, sit back and enjoy a little bit of genius.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmAo0uiarvA
PaulRogersLFC Paul Rogers Just when I was losing my faith in football, steven Gerrard has restored it. Credit to LFC - unbelievable respect for him tonight Regarding gerrard - Family thing - something he did for my nephew's best friend today who has been told him he will die soon. 10 years old. Travelled to London to see the young lad. He rung his mum tonight to find out latest. Didn't tell anyone. Only know cos my sister told me. Btw - gerrard's actions were nothing to do with me working for LFC. The kids mum contacted Steven, he took it up. My sister told me about it
Top stuff Stevie, I bet this doesn't make the newspapers. Despite the shite people label Gerrard with, he's always been a decent lad at heart.
