Looks like I've gotta eat my words with regards to Gravenberch. I was genuinely struggling to see what he was good at last season but he looks a completely different player under Slot. Bro is putting up MOTM performances every week. Hopefully he can get even better as he grows into that role even more.
I think we were all a bit harsh on him last season it was his first season and he was being rotated in most of the time so struggled to really get any sort of rhythm and I don't think Klopp had any idea what to do with him whereas Slot has come in and give him a proper role. Sky is the limit though he's finally showing why he was in the Ajax starting 11 at like 16/17 he's a massive talent.
Well I was never harsh on him cos he looks a class act on the ball. Bayern were harsh on him. Players need to play and grow. Same as Szoboszlai who is getting little love right now despite also being a young player himself he will be 24 next month so can still improve.
Need to see the kind of quality on the ball that he produces for Hungary. He basically undroppable atm though because his off the ball work is probably the best in the team.
Yeah that's the only thing keeping him from getting dropped atm because Jones is lurking and Elliott not far off fitness he needs to improve on the ball or he's at risk imo.
He will improve. There's others in the squad that are way below the level needed to actually compete over a season but we got very lucky that 3 of the 4 signings made last season are there for slot to use as his midfield. The tougher games are coming rapidly to test them out
It was a Dog of a performance and that's without debate ,but to still pick up the three points whilst playing that badly isn't the sign of a great team no matter how much it's spinned and is nothing more than a huge let off. I had my concerns early in the game that our overall application and attitude weren't right and those fears were confirmed as early as the 6th min when Trent kicked the ball out of play and walked away like he didn't give a f*ck picking up a yellow for his puerile actions. It remains an enigma to Liverpool fans how we suddenly lose all cohesion and struggle to do the basics on the pitch when the opportunity to go top of the league arises ? I'm wondering is it a mentality thing ,because this strange loss of form only seems to surface when the chance to leapfrog our biggest adversaries arrives Fortunately we managed to hold on ,but not before enduring a nervy last 15 mins. Truth is we got lucky because albeit for Gravenberch we were all over the shop ,Salah getting the full 90 mins against Wolves may slowly climb its way to becoming the biggest mystery in football ,yesterday he was f*cking shocking ,so too Diaz. Yesterday was a particularly bad case of if we turn up we win creeping in and hopefully it's stamped out quickly ,because I've seen and been present at far too many of these displays and it's absolutely gut wrenching to those fans that travel to these games to watch their respective teams playing with that kind of attitude. I think practically every quality the manager insists on and has tried to instill in this team completely deserted us yesterday. I'm happy we sit top of the league ,but I'd be far happier if yesterday was more a testament to the control we've been showing under Slot.
Same players, same issues. Slot has to deal with the same things klopp had seen. That absolute mess of a goal conceded has happened before. For all the talk that the club churns out from players about leaders and mentality there is certainly a tendency to be just totally lax. Be that arrogance or lack of concentration or hunger I don't know. That's two absolute stinkers in the 3 weeks with 3 easy wins in between., almost like back sliding after getting a few results.
Yep. Especially with Chiesa on the bench. Salah needs a bit of a break. Doubt the manager will bench him in the midweek. He should though. On a side note, running out of compliments for Gravenberch.
And no Chiesa training this week, so looks very unlikely that Salah will get that break, even going off some point in the game if it's wrapped up.
