And as frustrating as VAR is there’s certainly less glaring errors a well. That may be why? Blatantly off side goals was a weekly occurrence prior to VAR. I’d say penalty decisions are more accurate but that has also created its own problem, specifically the handball rule in box. The phrase ‘would’ve been a foul If it was anywhere else in the pitch’ is now seems obsolete
Time for accidental handball in the box to be a free kick offence. A penalty is too bigger a penalty for me.
Burnley v Forest on the final day is looking like a potential beauty at the moment. Luton still well in the mix despite their terrible form. Their fixtures are very good on paper. Think Forest's best chance is the other two being crap. I know they still have Sheff Utd to play but I'm not convinced they'll win any of their remaining games.
Now that it's official. What are you hoping happens this summer? Stick with the same manager and bounce back next year or looking to make big changes?
Pleased we’re out the bottom 3 after the weekend. need to conjure up a win from either Sheff U or Chelsea - not confident. does feel destined that we’ll lose at Turf Moor to go down!
I wasn't overly fussed about Wilder coming back as I would prefer us to go in a different direction, but you can't really judge him on what's happened. The whole season has been a disaster and we need a complete rebuild of the squad so I'd rather carry on with Wilder than spend weeks looking for a new manager. That record is long gone, they had a 42 game season. It's pathetic
Agreed, I used to work in the Blades Finance department so I do like to keep an eye on how they are doing. This season has been abject in all senses, arguably worse than the record breaking Derby season, even though objectively Utd have won more points than that side. And you are correct, Swindon achieved the 100 GA 'feat' in a 42 game season. My mind might be playing tricks on me, but my memory of that campaign was that Swindon weren't an especially poor team compared to the other teams around them at the bottom of the league, and in fact got some decent results across the season. It was just that when they lost, they lost big.
I think that's been the hardest pill to swallow to be honest. We didn't have a great squad to begin with, and then to sell two of our most influential players so close to the season starting just told everyone that we'd given up. It feels like we've improved since Wilder came in but the difference in quality between us and the rest is huge, not to mention the lack of fitness and character too. This summer is going to be very, very busy.
Our appeal hearing result was expected to be announced yesterday/today but now seems to have been postponed to next week. Hard to know how to interpret that - is it good news that they haven’t just dismissed it out of hand, or bad news as if they don’t want us kicking off in the media ahead of a big weekend at the bottom? The uncertainty is shit for everyone tbh.
I'd strongly suspect it means they are saying no to you and letting the games be doen before saying it.
All very messy now. Burnley fans are thinking they will get points back to make up for the dodgy VAR decisions Forest complained about to keep them happy. And Burnley had a potential winner ruled out for handball when the 2 teams met in the first game which they think will make the difference.
Nah no chance. We’ve had games where actual goals haven’t been given because the goal line tech was off and they haven’t changed the points awarded. Never going to do it for a handball or potential penalty. Absolutely no chance of that happening.
