This is the lowest quality game I've seen in this competition so far. General play not good and finishing even worse

Cape Verde have some decent individuals but they all wanna be glory boys & not team players .

The whole tournament of the games I've seen has lacked quality but hoping Cape Verde with their 561,000 population go through but agree , its Nigeria's to lose , Lookman being one of the MVP's so far , imo .

Fair play Williams South Africa GK with 4 penalty shoot out saves , I think even England may have scraped through a pen shoot out with Cape Verde but fair play to them for doing so well .

Both semis Live on BBC on Wednesday .

Never fails to be dramatic AFCON and always seems to be loads of penalty shoot outs !

Cape Verde v South Africa was a terrible game, such poor quality. I've never seen a penalty shootout end 2-1! :fail:

Looking at the penalties in this tournament, it is clear that they are using a different definition of handball to us!

I'm not sure - isn't everyone supposed to use the same rule? I much prefer the rule that it is not a penalty if blasted at your hand from close range or bounces up from another body part on to your hand.

Klinsmann finally ran out of luck.

I saw South Korea were losing but the way their tournament has gone I was expecting to see they'd equalised in the 100th and 110h minute and snuck through.
It doesn't appear that there's a 3rd/4th place playoff in the Asian cup so I guess Sonny will be heading home.

Will Mama Joy be dancing in the streets of Ivory Coast at 7 ish tonight if South Africa make it through or will the Nigerians be looking forward to Sunday's final in the 1st of tonight's Semi finals ?

Wow Nigeria thought they'd just sealed the game with a second goal. But VAR have correctly brought it back for a penalty to South Africa for a foul that wasn't spotted before Nigeria broke away for their 'goal'. So from 2-0 and Nigeria in the final, could be 1-1.

And South Africa have scored! 1-1, game on and all momentum with South Africa.

The strangest V.A.R decision I've ever seen .

Nigeria go 2-0 up & then probably 2/3 mins later ref checks off field & South Africa get a penalty , rightly so & it's now 1-1 , bonkers stuff !

Beat me to it @SamB_SCFC .

I think I've seen something like that before just can't remember what game. Maybe not though. Crazy change of emotions from both teams. I mean thinking you've sealed or lost the game one minute to drawing it the next

South Africa just had a golden chance to win it too! Crazy scenes. Looking like extra time now. Nigeria mentally seem to have lost it at the moment. They need the full time whistle to try to reset.

It doesn't mask the fact that it's been a poor game overall but then again , it's a Cup Semi final & teams sometimes go into them with a ' I'd rather not lose it than a go out & win it attitude ' , kind of understandable .

I'm not gonna bother watching IC v DRC as I think it'll be so official biased as for the hosts to make the final , Villa v Chelsea for me instead & flick highlights on at half time .

I thought you couldn't use var for free kicks. I know it's a red but I thought it was only to wipe out reds or give reds for dangerous tackles. Not give free kicks

I presumed they were checking for a penalty and/or red card, though I have to say I thought the contact seemed somewhat soft.

Ya I know they were checking for the penalty but I thought once its not a penalty its just a drop ball or something. No free kick so no red I mean.
