I will have to see if I can get a stream for that one, funny enough last night I went into YouTube and watched highlights of Carlton's 1968, and 1970 Grand Final wins.
Ended in a draw, unusual for the AFL, but the hard pitch, fast pace and lack of fitness meant that more than a few of the players on the park were knackered before the final siren. I just hope the Demons are as unfit as these two teams..
Totally forgot about the opener on Thursday Watched that last quarter and a half. Geelong beaten at home tonight @Panja Enjoy on Sat mate. Off the back of what you said about the forward line, and a guy at the gym said as well, tipped the Dogs to beat the Demons On the West coast, thanks to Ed f*****g Sheeran playing Optus last weekend, both Eagles and Dockers are away from home in Round 1
My Carlton plays Geelong next so that should be a cracker of a match, in the Blue's match against the Tigers the pitch looked really cut up and muddy.
Muddy? It hasn’t rained in Melbourne since the cricket World Cup in November. They are watering the pitch but the surface at the G is bone hard at the minute..
It was close for a while but we got absolutely torn apart in the second half. Great atmosphere as always though, and that sky looked amazing as darkness fell..
Cheers mate. There were a lot of people taking pics of that incredible coloured sky. I like to think mine was the best. Lots of talk about some of the tackles that were allowed to go unpunished over the week one games. The one that caught Bailey in our game was absolutely shocking. That’s a sending off in any other sport..
I k ow its early doors and only two rounds have been (almost) played, but the Pies are looking ominous this year. And it looks like it’s going to be a very long season for the Doggies unless they get rid of Beveridge because last nights mauling by St Kilda is unacceptable..
Early days yet and a lot of things can change, last year's AFL winners, the Cats have played 2 and lost 2, but that could all change later on.
They’ve played both of their games away from the smaller pitch in Geelong, plus they’ve lost their talisman captain who retired straight after last years final.
The magpies looking good this year so far, 3 wins out of 3 and the Tigers were beaten...just. Pies prevail in a soggy slog-fest against the Tigers AFL - News, Fixtures, Scores & Results - AFL.com.au
I have little interest in AfL or rugby league but watched this video on Youtube about the NRL/AFL split in Australia, and it is well worth a watch.
After the Bulldogs lost their first two games they go on to win the next two and ruin my prediction that it was going to be a long, awful season under coach Beveridge. All games this weekend are being played across three days and three venues in Adelaide. The news this morning is that about 180,000 fans from Melbourne alone are making the trip, and some Airbnb's are charging $10,000 a night. I mean, I like sport, but I'm not paying that for anying even if I could afford it..
They were in the top eight all season and were pipped from the playoffs in the last game of the season. You couldn’t script it that they would fail so badly right at the death..
That map is very accurate, although I’d say WA are a bit indifferent to both sports as far as I can tell. A couple of years ago we were in a sports bar in Port Douglas in Queensland and I asked the bar staff if they could put the footie on one of the screens as all four of them were showing the same NRL game and the Western Bulldogs had just kicked off in Melbourne. She replied with “the footie is on”.
